Total respect for Reed and all the racers.

I’ve been a critic of Reed, but I gotta say that dude is tough as nails. Something we all seem to forget is that these riders — who all have family and friends — put their lives on the line every week at the races. Seeing Chad in the hospital with his wife not able to be there kinda hit me. These riders really are heroes in the sports world, in my opinion. Hoping Reed and Schehr get well soon.

I like Reed...always have. And he’s tough as they come.

But I don’t like the “Putting their life on the line” for our entrainment, and they are “hero’s” thinking...that’s drama queen stuff.

Not drama queen stuff in my opinion. They literally are risking it all. And I did not say for our entertainment; I just meant that they push the envelope every weekend and as much as we criticize these riders, they really deserve more respect than they often get.

It was stated long ago that there were only two real sports:
Mountain climbing and Motorsport.

Both really were risking your life every time.
In F1(cars) and MotoGP (Grand Pix Motorcycle Racing) competitors would hesitate to befriend other competitors due the likelihood that they would die during the season.
It looks like ‘65 was the first year no one was killed in the road race world championships. 5 the year before, 3 the year after. The next fatality free year was 1978!!

None of us want to get hurt, but it’s a constant risk.

The have a great life, I “risk it all” (race) when time allows, at great expense, for no chance at the great lifestyle or fame that some of these guys get. Because I love it....My guess is most of these guys love it too, so no need to feel sorry for them. They do have the option to get a normal job, no one is stopping them....But why on earth would they? They get to race dirt bikes for a living. ?

Thats not what i was getting at. All pro athletes are heros especially to kids. No argument there.

Saying “putting lives on the line” is dramatic is totally uncalled for. Thats literally the reality when youre on a motorcycle.

I wish more people thought like you. I've began to not click on threads directed at a specific rider or incident between riders. It's almost always post after post taking shit. All the pro's deserve way more respect than they get on here. Justin Hill is a prime example. Week after week there is a new thread talking about how horrible he is in every way, all the while he's finishing just outside the top 10 in some of the most difficult races in existence.

Reed blows my mind. He's sitting there nonchalantly as half his ribcage was apparently pretty much crushed. The dude is the definition of gnarly. I broke one rib and literally thought I was never going to breathe again for a minute or so. Compare that with a stick and ball player rolling around on the ground because he sprained a knee or something.

But, they're not out there solely for our enjoyment. Saying they risk their lives for our enjoyment is silly, they're risking their lives in an attempt to become the best.

There's an awesome photo of Chad who left his ward to go see a girl in the children's ward who wasn't doing so well, you can clearly see he can hardly stand but he would have made her day. What a great human, not just a great role model for my my kids but for some adults as well. Nothing but respect for the aussie battler ?

Btw, the racers we love to watch can absolutely be heroes to someone. I bet Reed is a hero to that girl laying in the hospital bed all busted up. Who the fuck are you to say one person is more or less of a hero than someone else?
