Can anyone tell me what year CR250 cranks will fit in a 1988 CR250? I have a badly damaged one and Honda no longer offers the crank for it. Thanks!

Complete crank 87-01.

Wiseco and Hot-Rod both make rod kits but not complete cranks. They only offer complete cranks for 92 onwards.

eBay might be your freind. Good luck.

sgthubbard#60- did you ever find a new replacement crank for your 88? I have a 1989 (sort of) that a needs a new crank before racing season next month. I was told that the 1992and up would fit but that it weighs more. Not being a mech I am unsure if this would throw off the balance of the motor. This is a prsitine race bike and hoping not to put an old crank in it.

Simply take the new crank, piston, ring (s),pin, needle bearing, and clips over to Falicon in Clearwater, and they can precision balance the whole reciprocating assembly.. Just make sure your wallet has some extra padding in it when you go to pick it up.

1992-2001 cr250r crankshaft complete with rod and upper rod brg kit from wiseco, will fit a 1989 cr250r, or 1986 thru 1991. they are identical from what I can tell, they say the weight is different so I weighed the stock 1989 crank assembly and it weighs the same as the wiseco 1992-up crankshaft assembly, also have heard some negative things about wiseco quality? so I checked run out on the vee blocks, dead nut on. my dial indicators didn't even wiggle. very nice. I have used several of there crankshaft kits, as well as rod kits, pistons, gasket sets, and have had good luck no problems. good stuff.

Fastoldfart50, you want to avoid anything made by Wiesco that is not a piston. It's complete shit. Especially a part that spins 9000 rpm inside your engine. At all cost find another rod made by someone else. Google it if you would like more opinions . It's not just the dimensions, it's the material it's made with

Thank you MaxPower for the Info I always try to keep a open mind when it comes to others opinions like yours, You must of had some bad luck with wiseco cranks and rods that does really suck I hate getting burned by cheap parts. I have googled it about wiseco crank assemblys and everything I could find was from 3 or 4 years ago and I can only assume that they must of had some faulty parts out there at one time, all I can say is in the past couple of years I have used a couple of crank kits and had no problems at all, I have used rod kits also and did have a problem with the tin can coming apart because it was damaged when the rod was installed. but the rod and brgs looked good. anyways thanks for looking out its always good to hear other peoples impute.

Fastoldfart50, It sounds like you have had good luck with the Wiseco bottom ends in the recent past.I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I had a 2003 RM125 blow through two Wiseco cranks with less than one hour ride-time each. I finally went to OEM for the third try. Thankfully, the second crankshaft was a free replacement, at least.

You may be right- them being better now. This was about two years ago. I learned my lesson on that one though and won't use Wiseco bottom ends again.

I guess Iam going to find out cause I just finished putting together the 1989 cr250 with a wiseco crank and rod assembly, wiseco piston and gasket set for this guy and he is hard as shit on his equipment, I think he could ruin a crowbar if ya let him. Ill keep it posted. as far as cranks being different weight between the different years? I didn't notice any extra or less vibration than before. .

I have a 1986 Honda CR250R awaiting rebuild. You are saying you've tested a 1992 aftermarket one and they were a perfect fit?

I had mine rebuilt only to return without the tin... I would like my Engine to be perfect. I'm doing a full rebuild and this is all I am waiting on. I don't have the piece of mind to put the tinless crank in with all the new parts I have replaced throughout. Original cylinder re-nikasiled and the list goes on.

Please shed a little light here for me. Thanks.

Glad to hear the 92+ crank will fit the 89 cr250. Got mine pulled apart in the garage needs a crank and replated. Anybody else put the newer crank in the older bike?

I also have an 89 cr250 needing a full rebuild and I am going with the wiseco 92-01 bottom end because everyone I've heard from say it all works great

Fit in my 91 which is the same as the 86 on. About 4 hours on it now.

If the Wiseco 92-01 crankshaft will fit into a 89 cr250, would it be safe to say the same would go for an OEM 92-01 crank? I'm rebuilding an 88 CR250 and would like to go back OEM but no where can I find where it says an 01 OEM crank will work in a 88 .

Yes they are all the same. I put 20 hrs on mine before selling it to a buddy who rides it at track days. OEM, wiseco, or I used the hot rod unit

1986 to 2001 cranks will all bolt in any of the engines from 1986 to 2001. 1992 to 2001 cranks have more rotational mass and that is why they are not listed to fit the 1986 to 1991 engines. They bolt right in and will be balanced fine they just have slightly more mass so it is equivalent to having a slightly heavier flywheel. I generally think OEM cranks are better quality than the aftermarket Hotrods and Wiseco options.

How about CR250 1984? Will 1986 to 2001 crankshafts just bolt right in 1984 also?
I tried my '07 crankshaft and due bigger lower end diameter of the connecting rod there is no room to rotate.

Connecting rods are sold as follows: Honda CR250R (1984 - 2001)

The splines of primary drive gear are the same '84 and '07.

I have a 1981 to 2001 oem crank rebuild parts. Everywhere I check it says 81 to 01. If it will work and someone needs it let me know.
