I received some parts from powder coating: triple clamps, bar mounts, foot pegs. A Pivot Works steering kit replacement the old bearings.

Also the forks was repaired. New NOK seals, RT outer bushings and Bel-Ray 5w fork oil. The suspension was done by Factory Connection, I found some mods inside. All the parts was cleaned in a Safety-Kleen solvent.

11/7/2018 1:45pm
I installed the cooling and electrical systems.

Before installing the piston I made this holes on it to cooldown the exhaust port bridge. The piston is a Pro-X "A".

Nice build! looking good so far, I really like the black engine. Not trying to tell you how to do things but when using a wrench extension your gonna want to turn your torque wrench 90 degrees to prevent over torquing. Check out this youtube video for a better explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv_KHH55qdQ. Anyway keep up the hard work!

I put a small amount of anti seize to prevent the rust in the spokes thread.

I would like to get more info on that carb mode you have done. Which Keihin Carb did you actually use and why? Did you have to modify the air boot as well? I have 02 cr 250, not sure how different it is to a 2005 carb/boot, but I've seen good few people swapping Mikuni for Keihin mainly of Keihin's easy to tune abilities especially in weather change. So i would like to give it a try. Thanks.

If you have an 02 CR250, you will need the long body variant Keihin PWK without throttle position sensor. These carbs were stock on 99 and 2000 CR250's and featured a screw on top design.
Newer carbs taken from a KX, RM or YZ are short body variants and usually have a throttle position sensor. These carbs will be too short for your application. The 04-07 CR250 uses the short body design with throttle position sensor. The 02-03 CR250 uses the long body design without the sensor. You need the long body.

Thank's bbtr. I have nothing to say about it, 40 tell you all the info that you need. I have only a picture of the carb that you need to install on 2001-2003 CR250Rs.

I'll go to their website to study the construction of their brake hoses. Thank you! I'm trying to do my best I can.

Finished the linkage and installed. I'm working in the swing arm.

Finally the swing arm is ready. I use Quick silver 101 grease for all the shafts and Bel-Ray waterproof for the bearings. The rear brake also filled with fluid and bleeded. The chain is a DID ERT3. I'm working in rear brake pedal.

You can use the Keihin PWKs w/TPS from these bikes (at least, from my notes):
01~11 YZ250 PWK (TPS)
02~08 RM250 PWK (TPS)
98~07 KX250 PWK (TPS)

TPS wiring:
YZ Keihin Bk: Mikuni Grn.
YZ Keihin Y: Mikuni Y/Bk.
YZ Keihin Bl: Mikuni Y/R.

KX Keihin Bk/Grn: Mikuni Grn.
KX Keihin R/Grn: Mikuni R/Y.
KX Keihin W/Bk: Mikuni Y/Bl.

To connect Kawasaki Keihin TPS to CR250 harness, use Sumitomo HW 3 pin connector to plug into Kawasaki Keihin TPS, & Sumitomo HM 3 pin connector to plug into Honda. Purchase from Eastern Beaver.

You could also use the PowerJet system on your bike if you're feeling adventurous....

Is drilling holes in the piston a well known mod?
Yes, if grew up riding two strokes its a very common thing
And, not JUST common, but MANDATORY to cool the exhaust bridge & not seize the piston on the bridge. I usually chamfer the holes so the lube can easily spread out, too....

Amazing build... Kudos to you sir. Hard to imagine the hours put in to this bike. I’m really impressed though with the knowledge and the skill it takes to take a bike to this level. Makes my little build look simple... haha. Well done!!

Your shop looks well equipped. Build looks great too.

How does the nickel plated hardware hold up to wear? Footpeg mounts in particular I’m interested in. What about tool marks? Seems like a good solution.

Also, how do you like the Motorsports Products engine stand? Im going to upgrade from a wooden block and debating between the Fly stand or this one.
