I raced NORBA Nats for several years back in late 90s-early 2000's. I was at Vail, CO when Missy had her massive crash I was standing pretty close and saw it. I saw Palmer and Steve Peat killing the races then out partying, what a riot they were, scary actually! Great times back then witnessing some wild characters!

I hung out with her and Nathan Rankin in Maribor, Slovenia at the DH there in 98 or 99. I was big into MTB in those days. I was probably the only America spectator there. I was stationed at the US Embassy in Ljubljana then. I gave a power bar to Leigh Donovan at the top before her run and told her she'd owe me a beer if she won - and she did.Good times, fun memories. Still have the helmet Missy signed for me at the bar. She suffered a lot of concussions over the years for sure, but damn she was fast. Hell, they all were.

Every year at the Mt. Snow NORBA National, there would be a nude criterium next to the campground where a lot of the local riders stayed. I remember Missy participating in that one year.

At a NORBA National in Big Bear, Shaun won the downhill event, and busted out a gold lamé suit that his mom had made for the podium. He also had a bad-ass Prevost bus with checkered flag and flame graphics.

MX and SX could use some characters like that.

Oh, and that was all pre-internet era.

Hahah! Were you there the year I drove the Red Bull Pinzgauer into the middle of the crit and pumped the jams? We had 3 girls uh... 'change into their crit suits...' in the back of the Pinz, then hop on bikes that Dave Smutok, George Ryan, and Cam Zink let them ride... Unfortunately for Zink the girl riding his bike handed it to some random guy in the crowd and they stole it...

I have pics of all that still, on one of my HDDs.

Seth, George, Dave, Zink, Chase, etc we were all sitting on the roof of the Pinz watching the madness. Think that was 2005'ish?

pretty sure i rode with her once at a practice track near Elizabeth nc called Morgans corner, looked like that Suzuki in the trailer and she introduced herself as Missy and mentioned mountain biking.....and it was 06' just showed up on a weekday practice day. very interesting story never knew much about her other then was a popular mtn biker
