I had a dep pipe and dep standard length silencer on my 2010 yz250 and a 9oz stealhy fly wheel weight. Smooth all the way through with a long pull and good top end. My new yz came with a gytr by hgs pipe and shorty silencer. With no fww this pipe picks up much sooner than the dep but doesn't pull as far up top. It's still smooth but much more pull off the bottom and through the mid.
I had the stock pipe and shortened stock muffler on my 2010, it added snap on the bottom and went flat up top. On tracks that were hard packed or slippery it was harder to control than the other set ups i have run.
Going to do some playing around with combo's but I'm thinking a hgs and standard length silencer will be pretty hard to beat
Maybe Vuillemin can chime in?

I haven't tried an aftermarket pipe, but have no issues with how my bike runs with the stock exhaust. It can lug low and rev pretty high. At WFO I am not longing for any more power, even in the sand and uphill at Club MX.
If I still lived at the apartments off the San Fernando Road exit up the hill from Starbucks I'd let you take mine for a spin.
I'm not sure if you can tell in the video, but the bike is set up for a lot of grunt, which helped on the jumps with little run on the approach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY-bgn1MNTA&t=248s
Oh man, you were right over the hill from me!
I've seen a few people mention they like DEP and 304 long the best. Has anyone also tried DEP and FMF long, that has also tried PC 304 long?
Unfortunately couldn’t afford to stay in Santa Clarita, but we are buying in Lake Hughes
Better than a package showing up at your place and having her saying "Hunny, did you order more parts?" Umm, no. Must be a mistake. Oh, wait a minute. Yeah I ordered them months ago but they were on backorder.
But I get it. Better to wait than be sorry. Life priorities > rest of the stuff.
Pit Row
spacer, red line without. As you can see it makes more hp everywhere with the spacer in with 1.5hp more peak and 1lb torque more
I find removing the spacer preferable with the stock exhaust and RAD Valve. With the spacer I find the power to be too jumpy at low RMPs, which I find uncomfortable and unpleasant.
Perhaps with the FMF system (which I heard has less bottom than stock) I would prefer to use the spacer.
That said, I'm not planning to spend the money on an exhaust now, as I'm pleased with the performance as is. If I did spring for a system, I may go with the DRD as it was featured in a Dennis Stapleton project YZ250.
I'm more of a short-shifter, but don't want an overabundance of grunt at the bottom. If I wanted that I would get a 450.
You said you prefer the RAD valve. Where does it make better power? Do you run the spacer with the RAD valve?
