Would beat Dunge
Well he usually did..

Although I'm sure Dungey would still haul some serious ass.. wasn't that long ago he won a SX title.

I’m confused why everyone is shocked that RV is fast? Retired or not, he’s always going to be fast, the dude is incredibly talented. That raw speed/talent doesn’t just go away because you retire. He does look fit and I’m really hoping we see him throw down at MEC...and then slam a beer on the podium.

100% and if RV2 came back and won that illusive mxgp title, i would easily rank him as officially better than RC

He is one of the best of all time but no matter how hard he trains, he'd never run up front IMO. The fastest guys today have elevated the level since he left in much the same way that he did to RC and RC did to MC. Plus, years off are a death blow when your around the retirement age. He's not a 20 year old kid coming off an ACL.

A voice of reason, thank you. I appreciate RV more than ever, sometimes you don't realize how great someone is until they're gone. But he's 30 and been out of the game almost 5 yrs right? He'd be competitive no doubt but FMOTP talk? LoL Herlings would destroy him

Yeah thought I was close. I don't know 30 isn't old by any means especially being fresh from retirement. More I think about it I wonder if he could win again. It is RV we are talking about. Which would he have a better shot at SX or MX?I think he's enjoying riding again without the preasure and likes these one off races for sure. He's not coming back

Lol no he would not destroy him, if in shape RV would again dominate the field simply because he is having fun at this point.

Find RV's recent 125cc lap time and compare to say tomacs laptime at that same race.

Find this years washougal time and compare

Wait... no matter how much he trains till when? This year?

If he seriously wanted a comeback and trained all last year, he's still RV, and he's not old, is he 30 yet?

It's not like he walked off getting smoked, he was still the fastest guy in the world.

Hey Crush, are people just stupid, ignorant or blind? Why do people think you have to be 20 with your hair on fire to be fast? Age is not the issue that people make it out to be. RV would be straight back to the front of the field if he was to give it another serious shot. As I have said in another post...Champions are champions for a reason! And as far as having to be "young" to win....tell that to Alejandro Valverde....been at the top of the cycling world for 15 years and yesterday became World Champion...at 39 years young!!!

How do you determine how fast someone is when you have no one else out there for reference?

I totally agree here, especially SX, there were some races this year where the top 10 were separated by less than a second.

Ya well in RV2'S time you had to be atleast a good second a lap faster to get a solid gap from 1st to 2nd

It's funny how people get crazy about retired MX/SX racers. It's almost like there isn't enough talent coming up in the ranks... RV2, JS7, RD5... then you have KW14 and TP199 doing the MXDN. You can't tell me there isn't a market for a small scale senior series of some sort.

Remember that time when RV needed RD to have three mechanicals in one year to beat RD for titles.. he could always hope Dungey's bike breaks, again.

EDIT - RV was the faster rider but everyone talks about RD getting lucky when RV got hurt yet seem to forget that in 2011 RD got screwed with plenty of bike problems. If RDs bike never broke in 2011 he would have won both titles.

Your stupid i know exactely what im talking about.
RC4 has 10 american titles. RV has 6 titles and had the balls to atleast try mxgp and also faced a consistently deep and challenging feild.

RC4 never had to beat 4 multitime past champions.
RV had to beat the top ten, which were all nearly as good as he was, RC stepped it up literally 3 times, mcgrath then reed then stew.

So ya frankly, 6 american titles and an mxgp title.
I mean if rv2 had mxgp title, then you wouldnt even be able to compare the two greats even though the raced eachother twice RC4 ON mx1 and RV2 on mx2 and RV2 still beat everyone in the world at the same time on a smaller bike with a nations fate on his back.

Lol name one way any given rider has done more thats currently racing.

If RV2 and RD5 came back right now KR94 AND ET3 would be the only ones with a chance.
And ET3 cant beat RV2.
This is fact.
He couldnt even beat RD5 who RV2 FORCEFULLY PENETRATED YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Rv2 is THE ONLY RC4 CLONE, and cant be beat if he wants to win.
