I wouldn't say natural driving ability. She's been riding/practicing since she was little on go-karts. I'm not doubting she is good. But to say natural talent and this other BS is pure shit IMO. Practice and hard work beats natural talent - but that's a complete other argument I guess.

Car racing is a different animal. There are tons of really good drivers racing week in week out at short tracks across the country. To make it further, you need money, talent and the experience to help your crew get your car where it needs to be week in and week out. The last part is the hardest. No matter how good your crew is, you won't unload good every week. If you can't relate the right info to the crew, you won't be successful.

edit...good for Hailie, I actually think that she has a really good shot at being the first actually successful female driver.
cough sara fisher cough she was great in indy car. Danica is shit. Shes just there for the looks.

My guess would be the following;

K&N Series = National B Class
Xfinity Series = National A/Pro Class
M.E. Cup Series = AMA Pro MX/SX
Close. It’s about national C class. A step above local racing with legitimate funded teams and outside sponsorship and support. Feeder series. Truck series is the B class. Xfinity A. Then cup is top level.

Yep she has all the i’s dotted and t’s crossed. Already on the NASCAR young gun program. And marketing and media savvy “dad”. Best chance of any female anywhere right now to fast track into NASCAR

Close enough lol. I don't follow NASCAR and wasn't sure where the truck series fell.

Personally I think she has a real good shot at making it.

I guess that my use of the word success was too vague. I am referring to a female driver that runs up front week in week out. Neither Sara nor Danica did so. For the record, I think that you are right about Sara. It is too bad that she wasn't born with Danica's looks. It would have been nice to see her in that type of equipment.

As for the guys calling it a B or C series, that is a bit off. The last race we did in what is now the K and N series had Joey Lagano and a couple of other drivers from the higher series, in the race. I don't think that they let pros drop down to the B an C classes in moto. Like I said, comparing car racing to motocross just doesn't work. In many ways, it is the complete opposite.

Brian Deegan should get dad of the year or something. Following that family on youtube shows the staggering amount of work he puts in for all his kids.

A more appropriate comparison would be MX/SX/MXGP, then AX/Canadian nats, then Pro/Ams and regional pro purse events, then local pro/A class.

He is doing an incredible job with each and every one of his kids. A whole lot of mums and dads out there could learn a hell of alot from him!
And don't bother replying with the money card because yes money puts cash in your pocket but you can't go to a shop and buy values.
And a massive congrats to Hailie!!!

I'm kinda drunk and rambling here so don't take it the wrong way because I'm not trying to discredit anyone but isn't it kinda crazy how the sort of mentality and skill that can be passed along in genes?

To be in the upper echelon of any sport always takes that extra bit of natural talent, along with tons of work of course. Of course you always need that financial backing to fully support your hobbies but there's more to it than that. It always seems the offspring of any athlete is always super naturally talented. Like you see all these privateers going at it day after day, and while they are still better than 90%, they still don't have that extra bit to get them to the next level. Does it just take a couple of generations to pass down that elite talent?

I'm not extremely good at anything, therefore I'm going to blame my genes and start pumping out a bunch of kids in hopes one of them can make it. Grinning

So awesome for her, though! Looks like she has a bright future ahead!

I'll be that guy... in NASCAR it's all about $$. Even more so than moto, you can win just by having the fastest car there. No doubt she can drive, and no doubt she has years of practice, but lets be real - her real entry into the sport were the funds backing her up.
That may have a some truth to it. However driving any race car competitively takes more skill than most people possess. Nascar is one of the most difficult series to be sussessful. A good example is the failed attempts by MC, Pastrana, RC and even drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya and Dario Franchitti. I’m looking forward to following Deegans career, I hope she makes it to the top tier

Big name Cup teams have her on their Radar, Females that do well in NASCAR are a sponsors dream. I see her doing better than Danica simply because she's been in stock cars alot longer then Danica was before she went to Nascar.

Agreed. I was never a huge fan; I was always rooting for Pastrana. I could respect his talent, for sure, it seemed like he was in it to win it every competition he entered.

It seemed like he and the Metal Mullisha (or however you spell it) were the "bad" guys, and Pastrana and crew were the "good" guys.

Now, seeing the way he is with his kids, I am a fan. He definitely seems like a good guy.

Deleted post because I sounded like a dick, and even though I said I wasn't salty, after reading it I have convinced myself that I must have been ?. On a different note, it took an edit but I finally posted when I wasn't drinking. How bout them Browns with a W last night!

Yep, but again as usual, the Decker name has been around forever in racing and very well known in Canada..They were promoted very heavily. You can go far on money and connections and looks if you're a girl. I don't remember the exact details, but I think the Deckers also have some marital ties or something like that to the Patricks. They talked about it once when the race was on TV.

Money vs Talent, just Google Lance Stroll. When you need a new team, you just have your dad buy you an 80 million dollar ride, or like now, he buys the whole team. LOL.
The kids an alright driver, but if he was living in a trailer park, ambition and a little skill isn't going far.
