I thought Dungey would have won the MEC one year but missed the joker lane?

You are correct...it's been mentioned in this thread. I believe it was Villo that pulled over and told him that he had fucked up. Just remember RD slapping the sides of his helmet in dis belief. Somebody smart can post up that vid.

I 'think', I'm talking about a rider that turned down the opportunity to represent our country. Maybe I missed something and his sponsors told him, 'No, you can't go.'?

Your saying what Im saying lol fuck nuts. Im saying hes a guy thats consistent and always gets good finishes which equals championships. Were saying the same fucking thing. I was asking a question anyways not making a statement so yhat shows you dont know what the fuck your talking about. Im asking if it shows that when hes up against guys known for all out speed JS7, RV2, KR94, ET3... that are using that speed and going alllll out for $1 million because thats a years salary in 1 night, if those type of guys winning it shows that thats the rider he is, a very fast consistent rider. Vs the blazing fast can ride over their heads when needed riders kn JS7, RV2, KR94, ET3. Its not like he lost to chumps, but he lost to guys KNOWN for all out speed.

Im not saying he sux cuz he never won. Hes obviously one of the GOAT’s. Im just saying there is something to it. Who really cares at the end of the day it doesnt affect his hall of fame career (once RV retired), but I think it just shows what we already knew. In an all out sprint JS7, KR94, RV2, ET3 had a lil more top speed. Not every time but a lot. He was just riiiight there and riding beyond the edge leads to lots of crashes. He was actually smart for not doing it, as the records show.

record books usually record wins and overall greatness, he is one of them. Not too sure he gives a rats ass about some sort of invitational that proves nothing.

That Dungey never won a monster cup. We have Stewart, Villopoto, Roczen, Tomac, Barcia, Marvin. Does it not matter at all, or does it show hes more of a season long will be there at the end type of rider vs an all out speed for 1 race type of rider. To me it shows what we already know. Hes not the fastest guy out there, on certain tracks he was but overall throughout his career there were always faster riders, but he made no mistakes, never had a bad day, and was there at the end. So this just shows that in 1 race of all out speed for a million dollars hes not your man, but for an mx or sx championship at the end of the season theres no one better.

I think it’s that they were REAL close on the schedule during his 1st full year at Kawi & it was about being able to be ready for the race that his title sponsor wanted him at...

I’m not insinuating/finding fault with anyone on this. Hell, pretty sure Monster sponsored both events that year...?

There’s a reason guys wad themselves up every year going for it. A racer races. To the keyboard warriors it doesn’t mean shit. If you are a professional supercross racer, it means quite a bit obviously.

As far as dungey is concerned, It doesn’t mean anything to his legacy. But I guarantee you when he lined up to race it, he wanted it. It’s bragging rights going into the sx season, and also a chance to get in your comps head if you can dust them.

Dang seems to be a lot of passive aggressive Dungey fans here, I thought it was a decent bench racing question. I don't think the OP was trying to discredit Dungey at all and even if he was Dungey's legendary stats speak for themselves.

You said he’s wasn’t the fastest guy out there and there were always faster riders. I’m saying you’re wrong about that at least 80 times.

He had an obligation from Monster to race while being sponsored by Red Bull? He chose not to go. That's fine, but no need to make excuses for him.

yeah maybe so, but clearly it was a jab at Squirrelings since he and I don't see eye to eye and many don't even remember that fair race. F'n steel ramps.... only thing missing was a gator pit and monkey knife fights as intermission entertainment.

I'm not really in this conversation but what does steel ramps have to do with anything? They have them at plenty of the well established SX races over seas such as The Paris SX and the Aus X Open. But I guess with your logic those races have no credibility because they have steel ramps?

Yeah and then Villopoto goes out the very next moto and misses the joker lane after giving Dungey shits about it. Laughing

Do you see steel ramps at the SX races??? How about the stupid joker lane? By your logic, maybe we should try the mid 80s hardcross and mix a few more tricks into the mix.

Depends on which SX races you're talking about, I listed two that had them last year so yea I do see them at the SX races.

I'm not even sure what you're getting at here? First you claimed that no one would remember the McGrath invitational yet people have remembered it quite well. Then you said it was a fair race because it had steel ramps yet plenty of big time SX races around the world have made use of steel ramps.

Yep. Poto broke the news to RD and then went out and did the exact same thing. Incredible.
