MXGP4 is comin!

The ai is what I was hoping it’s pretty good. Should make for a good career. Still haven’t got to play much. I have noticed the bike set up seems to be a big factor, i think so at least. I was crashing a lot changed suspension settings some and got way better. May of just been more time also.

I think it’s good and honestly my biggest issue isn’t a big deal. It’s just the horrible sponsor graphics you have to use. I really can’t believe they did it again. Maybe they’ll patch like they did with MES. Maybe they got paid by those companies or something and have to have them like that for so long. If they don’t have to I hope they patch it soon I’d rather have no sponsor than to have those graphics.

I thought my game was broken before I came on here to see others were having issues with their rider randomly crashing. Wtf? All I imagine while playing is tony Cairoli saying to the Developers in his Italian accent ”if you oj, you die. If you come up short, you die” which has lead us to a game where if you hit a bump too hard YOU DIE! hope there’s a patch for this disaster asap

No Audio problems for me unless spectating.

“ My gripe is just with the random potholes or walls that cause you to crash, or the OJing. I don’t need more playing time ”
Hey bro I use to hit random potholes and invisible rocks and now I never do. Think you need more controller time to fix it Wink

Your logic is “the game runs fine for me so I must be the best player in the world at it”...

I’m just saying the game is glitchy for me. I’m on a day one Xbox one edition, so I’m not sure if that helps the cause. Even MES was glitchy but like I said my console is the release edition.

And I can promise you I have more lap times in the top 50 on all the MXGP games and MES than you. And more playing time for that matter. Get outta here.
Silly I would know you if you were maybe like top 10 I don’t do top 50 bro

I have never seen more complaining about a game in my life. If you’re sliding out in corners too much, or going into a turn and tipping over, you need to adjust the suspension because you are on PRO PHYSICS.

It also helps to, ya know, put some actual time in to learn because there is an adjustment period. We all wanted more of a challenge, and now we get it, and all I see is people whining that they aren’t good enough and actually can make mistakes and crash which is what happens in real motocross. Why should you be able to spin lap after lap and win in dominating fashion every time? How fun is that?

I think the game is fantastic. Yeah, it has a few minor bugs, but nothing that’s going to stop me from playing it. Easily best moto game I’ve played and I’ve had them all since mx 2002 with RC. And no I couldn’t care less about the scrubs. Such a stupidly small part of any moto game.
I whip and scrub so seldom that i, too, agree it's such a small part of what is important in a mx game. I can't believe people, especially moto people, put such an emphasis on it. People sctub in a race but rarely whip. Yet some people lose their minds over the whole thing. Odd.

Yes, I like freedom in the air. I think the series has that now. And I was ok with MESX air physics. I control a lot with my braking and letting off gas and making in air sdjudtments but rarely do the traditional scrubor whip anyway.

What Milestone does need to focus on, though, is how the suspension reacts to the terrain. That is one area the competition is at an advantage. But that's really the only area, in my opinion.

Finally get to play tomorrow afternoon. What a drag I'm so behind but hey, my schedule is kinda tough at times.

I'll give impressions after a while. I still play MESX most of the time and, unlike Peelout, I can't wait for the next MESX or MESX Pro. New bikes, rosters, tracks, riders, teams, refinements. Sign me up!!

I’ve put in the effort and learnt the game, let me say I’ve never been so satisfied to finish second in a race.

This game is amazing, I’m excited that I’ve done two rounds and I’m down 21 points. I’m not sure how many tries it’ll take to win a championship and that’s what will keep me hooked.

Milestone have absolutely nailed the gameplay. Really disappointed you can’t sign with factory teams though. Hopefully they can sort this out for the next game.

Has anybody gotten further enough into the game to see how the rider rivalries affect the racing?

I wanna know that too (rivalries) I did find it interesting that you only get 'points' for disapproving a tweet..
I keep disapproving tweets from Bogers and they get harsher and harsher haha

Right now I’m half way through my second mx2 career season and I have won 18 motos straight on the hardest difficulty. I have like 110 point lead in the championship LOL

So i only have about 2 hours of play time and most of that was spent getting thru the startup crap and compound. I decided to go straight to extreme career and give it a whirl. I qualified first in timed qualifying, got last in the qualifying race, and then in the first moto i started about 6th from the outside gate, got into first on lap 2, pulled about a 10 second lead, crashed with 15 mins to go, got up still in first with Covington right on me, crashed again next lap and was back to 8th. was so frustrated that i wasted 20 minutes of that moto that i just shut it off and went to bed haha. It was already 1:30 am anyways. i'll get at it tonight

I will say I hate Qatar for the first 5 minutes until lines start to form. They're not ruts by any means, but they definitely make a difference in holding the bike in line. Again, i've only played on Qatar so idk how true that is anywhere else.

Ya they’re slow once you get the hang of the game.

Each track has different dirt and some tracks form
better ruts than others, but even then ruts don’t form too well. If playing online the ruts do help though, if the players are fast

The mechanics determining if youll wreck or not When landing a jump at speed was poorly coded. On the Indonesian track right after finish line there’s that dragons back you’re able to wheel tap out of and if you barely land a little “off”, instant crash

About 2 hours into the game. Honestly, I'm not having a lot of issues crashing. Then again, I'm not a super fast rider and I'm pretty good at throttle control. I like it. It's an improvement in almost all areas and much better than 3.

I still prefer MESX as I just prefer the AMA series but I like what I see so far.

Thankful camera customize is back but you still can't zoom it in very close. Kinda bummed on that.

So can you not upgrade your bike in career mode once you’ve begun? Isn’t that the point, is gain “fame points” and then apply those to more desirable sponsors or do the points just accrue and you can’t use them til you start a new season? Also, on MES it would give you a little on screen HUD notification like over the finish for example that would show you your lead gap in seconds? I’m not sure I’ve noticed it here? Have any of you? Sometimes it’s nice to know how big of a lead you have as I’m sure I’m not the only who feels that way. First night it came out I played it and was worried I’d have buyers remorse but I was the same way with MES, at first I was like WTF is this but after a little getting used to I dig both of them.

Can you do anything to your bike through the season? Do they make you wait till the 'window' which used to be every 6 rounds, or do you have to wait till a new season?

I’ve heard about that^ Sounds like maybe a glitch. It bleeds into multiplayer, that brand of bike is stuck looking like that bike in your career. I’ve only played 2 career races, so not really familiar with the problem

I think it only shows you sector times, which is confusing to try and work out as you go haha but I guess as long as you're fastest in the sectors you should be ok haha

I too am a fan of having the camera close up on the rider. I feel it helps me focus on the things around me better

After logging more time on it I’ve come to the conclusion that the physics are a dumpster fire and need a patch to truly unlock the games potential. You can’t land on the back wheel, inconsistent oj crashes, random wrecks in turns, utterly maddening. The physics feel so much more restricted than ever before, Some of the turns I feel like I’m riding a boat, play MES straight after this and you will be all over the place. This game has me so frustrated because I had such high hopes. Rant over I’m going to build a track on MES to cool off.

And if you try to tell me I’m wrong, you’re wrong. ?

PC version seems to have some issue's. Been getting runtime error's with random CTD. MES run flawless on my machine ( as wioth every other game / simulator I own ) , but this one does seem to have some sort of bug. I believe it's related to video driver's , but I'm not sure exactly what it's having and issue with.

I will say....I haven't had much time on it , since I just got it tonight. Put about 2 hours into it , but after about the 5th time the game crashed , I gave up for the night. The little bit I did get to play though.......Really digging it. Seems very , very realistic and challenging for sure. I'll update my video driver in the morning and see if that helps with the crashes.

I dunno if you've already done this or not but I was struggling with that too but after I did the 'training' section it seemed to improve a tonne

Totally agree. I happen to think MES is the best mx game in history. You just have to play it a while to get fast. I have a lot of time in it now and I am fast now and its awesome. When you get really good, you start seeing sections to put together that you wouldn't have thought were possible when you started the game. Racing online with the user built track is where its at. Pretty much opens up a whole different game.

Can you complete with a 2 stroke? In mxgp 3 they were much slower

I'm about 3/4 through the extreme career. Being that it's a full weekend with timed qualifying, race qualifier, and 2 30 minute motos, I only get to do about a race per day. Im taking my time with this one for sure.

A new issue came up last night. Even if theres just one other bike around me, I absolutely cannot hear my own. The only time I can hear my own bike is if I'm riding by myself. That's frustrating for shifting gears...

I've also felt it's much easier go exit turns in a higher gear and leaning forward. I'm not spinning out as much anymore since doing that. On the 250, a lot of the turns I shift down into 1st to enter to help get stopped and then shift to 3rd to exit. Dragging the back brake at the right times up to the apex of the turn seems to be helping too.

It is nice doing the full weekend races though. By the end of the round, I usually drop my lap times pretty good from timed qualifying. Leon is such a fun track. I started there in timed qualifying with a 1:43 and was thinking shit this is going to be a long round... about halfway through moto 1 everything started clicking on what lines to hit and how to ride the track. I ended up dipping down to 1:33. (On a 250)

Yep definitely competitive and as far as I know (I haven't raced a 4 stroke that much haha) the 125 seems to go the same as a 250

The physics in this game are nothing like mxgp 3. And ruts dont develop near as well as 3. Did you play it?

Considering that around 2011 we didn't have squat for console Moto games, I, personally, am very grateful for yearly updates. Milestone treats it as a sport, It gets same treatment that Madden, NHL, NBA get from EA/2K. And to me, that is great!

I don't expect revolutionary changes. I expect roster/team/bike/track updates and improvements and refinements.

But that's just me. And no, the game is far from the same as 3.

Pretty much it seems like the 250Fs are a tad faster. I use to think the 125 was faster than my 450 lol, the 2 strokes are almost easier to go fast on

Well I restarted career with a 125 husky 2 stroke. I have been finishing 6-10 with the 250 and so far I have one everything with the 125. These things feel amazing and sound awesome

No it isn't. It doesn't act anything like MXGP 3.

And what a guy mentioned above.....I do wish they would steer towards the MES physic's , because to me , those physic's are pretty much the best there is when it comes to an MX game. In my opinion....

The skill gap in MES was slim. That game was a fun one, but I think you guys will start to like this one more if you stick around more than a week. In gp pro try not using very much right stick except when entering the corner and that’ll help with the random crashes a bit
