They won't update the riders because everything is set for 2017. With rider and team changes in late December it would have been really tough to update all of that before release.
Perhaps, a DLC with 2018 rider updates would be cool, but as it stands that's probably the least of their worries.
Or just do championship mode. It's basicly the same thing as career mode. Difference being you don't have to run the sponsor graphic therefore you don't need to finish in a certain position.
You can run stock or other graphics in championship mode.

If they put the factory test tracks, or any outdoor practice facility like Stewy's Florida track in the next game / updates. Game over.
The fact that it's their first SX game is irrelevant. They have experience in that genre of games so the issues we've all been experiencing shouldn't of happened in the first place. This is not their first go at a dirt bike game. They have receive a tremendous amount of feedback over the years so the fact that some of the things have not improved/been addressed (in air physics, rider physics, etc.) is not really acceptable.
MES is a fun game once you're in an actual race but everything surrounding gameplay still needs a lot of work.
They have released a patch for PS4 and the Xbox patch is coming soon. I haven't had the chance to play the game with the patch update yet but hopefully that will help make the game more tolerable.
A lot of guys on the PS4 have experienced issues that I haven't experienced or haven't come across but do know that Peely and other's had a shit ton of issues with theirs. So Peely, when you have the chance to install the patch try the game again and report back to see of it helped at all. Hopefully those that had a lot of issues will now be able to enjoy the game.
No idea where the patch update stands for the PC players but by the sound of it, one is desperately needed for that platform.
Finally had a few free hours last night. I downloaded the game and finished with the 250 W career mode. I wanted to wait a few days to see how it was panning out for everyone else. I have an Xbox One. I can say that everything about this game has been improved well beyond all of the MXGP games less one thing. The lame twin stick pre-programmed scrub. [In the voice of Kenny Watson] "Lame." This one feature is a huge draw back for me since everything else is very very good. . The only time I use it is off the finish at the end of the race. Also every now and then I do something that causes it to happen at THE worst time during the race. I figured out that in MX vs ATV Encore I do the exact same quick twin stick move as I land left turns already turned left. Not sure how that helps me in MX vs ATV Encore but it screws me a few times during the race here. LOL. Can I disable it some how?
I ain't gonna nit-pic too much but here are my thoughts.
First thing you wanna do is change the rear brake to the Lower Left Trigger. I think it was the "A" button be default which really makes no since since you wanna be able to manipulate both sticks as you break into a corner. This is impossible with the brake on the button pad.
I think the speed is near perfect. Some have mentioned that it is too fast. I would say go watch a Gopro recording of and SX race and you will see they go FAST!. To me it felt realistic. Less the low speed bog it takes to get going again once you loose your rhythm. I have not tried the manual trans yet so I am hoping that experience will be different.
The air time is way better than the MXGP games. But there is still a tad more hang time after the peak of the air experience where I feel the bike would drop faster. This also adds a funny floaty feel as you are landing into a turn. You can pretty much turn the bike 45 degrees into the next turn.
The graphics are excellent. However found it weird that one track just look like a blanket was thrown over the entire track. Not sure which round it was but one was all grey and looked like a 20 year old game. Then the next round was absolutely beautiful with moisture, puddles with reflections, tire marks etc.
I LOVE that you can race close and rub without going down like in past games Reflex, Alive, MXvsATV etc.
At first I felt like I was fighting the bike to get around the corners. I do realize that to turn a real bike you need to slow down. So some of my MX vs ATV training is adding to this frustration. I was able to slow my pace down through the turns and actually go through them way faster.
I like the handling. Wheelies when you gas it and lean back, pushed when you carry too much speed into corners, rear tire spins around to the outside . Feels to be weighted correctly. I have not been able to lean the bike over and gas it resulting in a tight one foot down turn. Again hoping the manual trans is different. I don't have a lot of time on it yet. But that is my initial impression.
I really like how you can click through the pre and post race videos loops wasting no time.
Most of us critics where around for the MCM1 and MCM2 days. We all seem to remember how awesome that experience was. But if you go play either of those games today you would be surprised at how lame the really are compared to any modern SX/MX game today. I think our love for them was due to the online experience that had never existed before. We raced, made friends, made enemies it really was a great time. Today's games have improved by leaps and bounds. I always thought Reflex was the best off all the past games and even later attempts kinda went backward for some reason or another. I think this game has raised the bar even further now.
I can tell that Milestone tried very hard to makes us all a great game. I can tell they have paid close attention to other games and where they fell short. It is apparent to me that they also listened to all of our criticism of those games. And even today they are scrambling to make improvements like they actually care. Previous developers stayed silent and in turn caused a humongous backlash of bad mojo. I give big props to Milestone.
I am still a complete goon in this game but I can tell as I level stuff up, race against the faster guys it will just get better. And it looks like Milestone is willing to fix the errors and glitches as we all go down this road with them.
I am OG SPODE MCM2 on XBOX LIVE.
I do not at all like that i cant run "my own" graphics in career mode as we could in MXGP3, hated those sponsor kits and still do. You would still get the reward regardless of which graphics you ran too. Seems a bit better, id say?
And not being able to get on a factory team kinda defeats the purpose, or hype i guess, of being "the real thing".
Just ride your blacked out Oakley bike..
I run first person and have been all throughout the milestone games, and its rad. But when im on a suzuki i wanna see a yellow front fender. No big deal right? And yeah i guess the graphics kit doesnt matter too much when in first person, but its just silly that they took away an existing option.
As im posting this i fired up the game (PS4) and theres a patch installing. Should be interesting.
And PS, after the startgate weirdo-positioning photo theres a screenshot that i snapped and just love. Good lord this game could have been so great. And i do enjoy it, but it is so flawed and so inconsistent that it just bugs me.
Oh, and i started out playing career, 250 east. Won that very very easily with everything maxed out. I was level 99 when i switched from that to 450's, and smoked everyone in the qualifier for A1. Hit level 100 after smoking everyone in the heat race too, but got last place and lapped in the 20 minute main event after even restarting a few times a couple minutes in and then running perfect laps. What the hell?
Did San Diego qualifying last night and got third.. after switching from Suzuki to Honda just for more power. Big difference it felt like. Qualified third, lets see if i get smoked in the main again. And hopefully the patch has patched some things up so to speak.
Love me my MX games, but there are some seriously weird and insane decissions made in this one, and execution is beyond poor so far. But, ill keep goin a bit.
Would have been nice to get the more detailed story mode-ish career mode like the MXGP games have had, with the magazines and what not. Im only one 450 main in at 20 minutes and it was just annoyingly boring towards the latter half. Gonna cut my time down a bit for the next race and see if its more intense.
EDIT: Forgot to mention. I have had a huge glitch that i have not read about here yet, or missed. I have video of it but havnt had time to upload it yet. But it was all at A1, when the gate dropped my dudes just sittin there, i can go through the gearbox, turn lean, switch camera angles, everything except move forward haha. This happend probably 5 times, and i restarted the game each time until i had to reboot the entire PS4 as a last resort. That finally worked and i got off of the line and onwards. Have not seen that before or since. Very strange.
Also, the fact that this thread has 90 pages and over 180,000 views shows how popular MX games are within the community. Impressive.
I've mentioned it before but even if it's Milestone's 1st SX game it's their 5th motocross game so some of the things that we experienced shouldn't of happened.
There's no doubt that there's an interest in MX/SX games. Like you said this thread alone has 90 pages, over 180k views and some 2000+ replies. The MX vs ATV thread is also doing well. Hopefully Milestone, THQ Nordic, etc. take notice of this and start taking notes as to what we really want in games and put those things to work for future releases.
Yeah, it's not their first MX game and there are some issues that we've been experiencing that we should not be, but I was referring more to the actual Supercross mechanics, etc.
So far, i've mostly been playing career mode to get the hang of everything and could not understand what all the complaints were about. Until you go play live, then its just chaos! The tough blocks are everywhere and do not reset, which is really frustrating trying to avoid them. When you do hit them, they are not the most forgiving and give you a hard time. Way more glitches occur on live than in career mode. Other riders cutting the tracks and taking you out are frustrating as well but overall still happy with the game and having alot of fun.
Yes, those are issues that need to be fixed in my opinion but not a total deal breaker. Most will do those series once and strictly do online races after that.
Now on to one other thing. I’ve noticed it mentioned a lot in this thread about how milestone has now made 5 dirt bike games and I agree but I also take into consideration that this is only the second title using the unreal engine. I’m not all that familiar with the programming side of making games but maybe there’s a good chance they are still learning how to build on the unreal engine. That being said it’s still not an excuse for all the bugs.
Finally, if milestone continues this franchise then I know I’ll continue to support them and buy these games. I look for it to only get better as they move further into development with these games
Pit Row
I have since bought a Xbox One just for this game... Been playing it the last couple of hours and find the AI quite a challenge.
Otherwise. As a group we have waiting around the first turn for game to catch up. I'll send you an invite the next time we all play.
They are usually done automatically. Not sure why it wasn't done on yours. Check your settings. Notifications might be turned off. That might be why you don't see it under notifications.
Just checked and all notifications are turned on. I also know with any other game when a patch is DL'd it will show in the notification history.
I hit the options button in the start screen and it says I already have the latest edition. So then I check "update history" and it shows I have version 1.03 (it also shows previously versions 1.02 and 1.01 with a list of items below each version.)
I'm looking over the list and don't see many of the items listed on the MES facebook page that was posted 17 hrs ago. For example the career saved data corruption. That's nowhere in the list for the versions on my screen.
Finally...it shows under "information" that it last updated on 2/11 at 1:22pm. I'm assuming what all this means is the digital version I pre-ordered automatically came with these corrections but still no official patch to fix all the issues currently going on.
UPDATE:
Finally got it to update. I kept trying to trigger something by starting a race and going online...once I opened the track editor it suddenly booted me and said a new version was available. 508.3 MB is now downloading. Just glad it finally went. Says this is version 1.04
I just lost all the sound. New qualifying session started with some background music and it just went silent. I thought I accidentally hit the mute button with the TV remote but no. I know the sound issue was brought up before but this is the first time I experienced it.
