Hey Everyone!
Me and a mate booked flights to San Fran from Dublin for 2 weeks in April (15th to 27th) and are hiring a car. Its just a chill holiday and were hoping to go watch some racing, see some big shops, mx places of interest etc!
As were students, as much as we'd like to we couldn afford to camp at mx heaven! We might do one days riding somewhere tho!
Just wondering have you much advice for us heading over??
We'd like to watch the pro's practise!, hit troy lee shop, pro circuit, mcgraths house etc like they do on tours!
Can we just pay and go to these places or do we have to be on a special tour?
We want to have a deadly two weeks so any ideas or what to get up to over there be great! Also any good beaches etc!
If you have the time, let us know!
Cheers lads

Maybe you can get someone on here who is free days to give you the factory track tour. Kawi track is easy enough to spot. The others are tucked up on a hill down the road. I forget the exit name.
Worm?
Milestone MX on Weds.
Glen Helen on Thurs.
That is where you will see "pros"
At times, you may feel like you are in Mexico, don't panic!
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Don't mind the Homophobes, their butt plugs aren't in and they are worried that those tendencies will come back.
get the heck away from San Francisco
Have fun here guys.
From a pure tourist standpoint I'd stay in northern Cal.
Pit Row
San Fran is whole day of driving each way, even if you don't stop to take in some scenery.
It's a beautiful drive, but two days gone from your holiday.
Appreciate it!
We got the flights dead cheap that's why were flying to San Fran, and we want a wee road trip.
First of all we plan on taking highway 101 as said above, incorporating a road trip into the holiday is always fun! And means we get to see more of Cali rather than just one city!
So we don't mind the long drive at all and stopping in a few small towns along the way!
We have no accomodation booked, so it just going to be few nights here and there!
Definitely plan on hitting the likes of pro circuit, chaparrel, etc and looks like we'l be spending tuesday, wednesday and thursday at the three tracks mentioned above! I'l prob stay with one of the bike hire companies for these days then. Thanks.
Anyone heading to factory tracks who want to hook us up that be great!!
Iv heard good things about Hunntington Beach so i'l have to incorporate that into our programme, and maybe Laguna Beach (looks good on tv)..
Superfan45, thanks for them bits of info. Checking them out now! Only wish I had longer to stay! If I like it out there I'l be back in Summer. Never been to the states before!
I am a sports fan so i'l definitely have to get in a baseball, football or hockey game!!
Im getting excited here can't wait now! Just what I need before I start into my college exams!..
Thanks again, anymore suggestions or hook ups welcome...

One more suggestion:
If you drop your wallet in Laguna Beach, kick it to Newport.
San Francisco is a great city, a little spendy for a couple college guys on a holiday,
but at least check out the Wharf.
The Muir Woods National Monument is way cool, I love the Giant Redwoods.
Just 25 south of S.F. is Half Moon bay, home of the Maverick's.
The Maverick's are 25'-50' waves, not the kind you see on Bay Watch, pretty sic.
Down the road from there is the, Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel, stay for as low $22 a night.
I'd also hit the Santa Cruz Board Walk, The Monterey Aquarium and Carmel, you have to take The 17 Mile Drive.
Another 100 miles down the road is Big Sur, home of the Big Sur Holy Weed.
After that, I'm lost. I'm mostly a NorCal guy.

88sdad, thanks for that list there very helpful! Think weve got a good idea now of best things to do out there. Its better to hear from experience rather than brochures etc! You can get the real DL. My flatmate said to check out the Muir Woods aswel, he said its pretty sick! I presume I can hire out surf boards at Mavericks?
Them other spots are looking good to
There's so much to do out there! Nothing in the Emerald Isle comes close

From SF, I would drive down the PCH all the way to San Diego. You will hit everything in-between and then SD. It is a long drive, but you could still hit the tracks on the way back.
