Programmog great, smart, fast AI must be a challenge. Or at least for a MX game on limited budgets. Rainbow has been at this for nearly 20 years and I saw AI riders going down the track backwards in Encore. Countless times. EA SX 2000 had good AI as far as trying to beat them on Pro but I wouldn't necessarily call their riding intelligent. MTX career AI got really freaking hard to the point it felt like they were cheating. To me.
Reflex AI was abysmal. They would land on you and take you out every other few seconds. Riding totally wreckless. Sim has very slow AI programmed...when it's even done...in initial disc tracks. I thought MXGP3 had pretty decent AI. No, not fast enough for most fast guys but at least you could race them without it being a demolition derby.
The fact is, we have never had AI in a MX game that could please everyone. I hope that they can be decent in MES and keep improving.
To my knowledge, there is no SE physical copy. No retailer has it listed.
I totally understand where you are coming from, sometimes you gotta handicap yourself to make the game more fun, but when you’re charging people for a triple A title, it should be a triple a game. Especially when codemasters have had ZERO issue with AI difficulty in their game.
I agree though, guess I’m just gonna have to wait and see if the AI are any better! Cheers!

Again, all valid. And yeah, Codemasters have it dialed and that is the bar other developers should strive for. I'm just saying that no other SX game has done great in the AI department either with, in some cases years of experience, so I think it's a touch unrealistic to expect Milestone to do so in their first SX game.
But hey, I feel your pain, man. Totally valid. I doubt any MX/SX game's AI has given you any challenge, correct?
1. Look at Milestone's track record.
2. Look at the videos showing realistic difficulty and a player who has played the game for a total of 3 races absolutely destroying it.
Its pretty clear that as it stands the AI should be more difficult.
I love all milestones games. The AI in Ride 2 is very difficult to beat. I want it to be that hard in their mx games as well. I don't need to play the game to see its not hard to beat right now. People have been asking for this since MXGP1. I'd say its time...
I agree with flatout about racing "realistically" to get the best experience against the AI. Yeah it will suck if the AI in the Supercross game won't give us as much of a challenge compared to F1 games perhaps.
In the EA supercross 2000 game you will notice that the AI will never triple into a corner, (they will double and single out) so to keep things fair I won't triple into corners as well, even if it is the fastest option.
Another game I play is F1 06 and there are a couple of tracks where the AI don't handle certain corners well. So again I will purposely go a little slower in those corners to keep things fair. I understand this isn't the optimal way of doing things, but it's making the best of a situation.
Finally I would like to see a AI slider for individual tracks like F1 2017 introduced. Like a 80-110% scale. We know from past MXGP games that AI consistency lacks from track to track so if we could adjust the AI with a % scale, this would help keep a 17 round championship more interesting.
The AI should simply be smarter/faster and harder to beat. This means that you would be forced to put in consistant fast laps and make less mistakes if you want to win. That is what makes it realistic.
It doesn't matter what type of game it is when you set the difficulty higher the game should be harder to play.
As for the AI in MES I'm sure it'll be difficult for some players including the casual fans but it'll also be easy for a lot of guys including a lot of us on here. The good news is that it's something they can tweak after the release but whether they'll do it or not is up to them.
Besides the AI in MES won't matter much for most people since most will be playing online after they've completed the career/story mode.
I’m speak to texting this while walking a dog so forgive my clarity. What I’m trying to say is I feel like any real reason why the game looks unrealistic from the preview videos we’ve seen this far is due To how The player is playing the game more than bad physics in the game being incorrectly made. Now that’s not to say the game doesn’t have mistakes and I’m definitely not saying it’s perfect but just like most Noto games Once you learn them you can learn them to play in a way that looks and feels much more realistic and not go homeboy come on boy Ranger call Ranger call Ranger call Range once you learn them you can learn them to play in a way that looks and feels much more realistic
It would be great to have super smart, super fast AI like in the Codemasters games but I think we also have to allow for the fact that MES is Milestone's first SX game. And honestly, can anyone name a SX or MX game with great AI? I think MXGP is at least decent and they are somewhat competent. I think Supercross would be harder to program competent AI then MX. But I'm just guessing as I really don't know.
I do expect them to make Supercross as realistic as possible while still keeping it accessible to the general public but I also think we should play the game as realistic as possible as well.
That's just my two cents. But I see both sides of the argument.
I wish somebody new would come in and redo their physics code. It's ruining what could be the best arcade moto game.
there’s no doubt the physics aren’t going to be perfect but to say the game doesn’t mimic real life more then it does is silly imo. the gameplay looks like shit because of how bad the player is. but i can see past that and tell there’s a ton of potential as is
Pit Row
Don't get me wrong, I like that we are getting new mx/sx games, but they need to start progressing. Milestone has developed mxgp 1,2,3 and they gradualy improved and listen to some suggestions by the community. But this games just looks like a step backward, physics vise. The game looks graphically beautiful, but ultimately what will atrackt players is the physics, challanges and overall the realism. They need to start listening to the community more and not be afraid to make bigger changes.
Just my thoughts pointed out...
Sure, I would like it as sim as possible without being frustrating but they also want to appeal to fans new to sport. The more casual approach while in assisted mode is probably due to the involvement and license thru Monster. The more sim normal mode may not be as sim as the hardcore fans want but I do think it will be a good balance of both. Simcade I like to call it.
I think the game will be an improvement from MXGP but the physics aren't going to be super sim. Yes, they need to work on how the bike's suspension works but i do think they are making advancements with each MX/SX game. That is all I ask for. They already do so much more right than the competition so I'm not worried about them as a developer.
They seem to listen to the fans but progression does take time and they have several franchises ongoing. I urge everyone to support the franchise. They have given us a lot with MXGP and now finally getting a licensed SX game.
They need to go back to mxgp2 and tweak from there. 3 was a massive step backwards unplayable for me
