The game looks great, online should be fun, the track editor looks great, but the career mode is going to be stale after one playthrough because of how easy you can crush the AI. Hopefully, they will release a patch or something?
I'm not saying it's ideal but in Encore i refused to use the clutch because it was basically like cheating and have such a fake boost plus you could jump entire sections. That's not fun to me so I don't do it. In MXGP Stadium series, I do the 8 second runoff thing and between that and riding realistic I generally have tight race.. We'll see on this one.
Heck, I may just not be as good as you cats either.
But yeah I get you shouldn't have to handicap but honestly no MX game's AI has been super intelligent and realistically fast without being fake feeling and felt like they were cheating. Hoping this one pleases everyone. We'll see. 2 weeks!!
I sent my brother to Gamestop to pre-order it and asked him to make sure to ask for the special edition. Not sure if the lady at Gamestop was new or what but said there was no special edition. He texted me saying that so I took a pic of my TV screen and sent it to him. She said it wasn't in the system.
She told him that it might be a digital download exclusive. To be honest I've never heard of that so my guess is that if you pre-order in stores you'll receive a special code on your receipt or in the game box itself.
I've bought a lot of games and a lot of special edition copies so I'm not too worried about it. The store will either get two different version of the game or it'll simply be a code. More than will be a code.
Pit Row
I say this because I played F1 2014 for three years. Between damage settings, AI strength, and physics, you could damn-near make that game unbeatable. Which is why I played it for three years instead of buying 2015, 2016, 2017, etc. Just a theory, but one that I think holds water.
Easy difficulty, you can smoke the AI. Then turn it to hard(not expert) and it’s a mega challenge. All 20 races you are fighting tooth and nail for positions. Make a mistake or crash? You usually can’t fight your way back to the podium, or top 5.
Now, go play on the hardest difficulty. In my experience, if you aren’t hitting EVERY corner perfect, or every braking zone, you’re done. You understeer a little in one turn and the guy behind you blows your doors off. (Just like in real F1, and supercross)
That’s how this upcoming supercross game should be. A difficulty level for new players, one for people who are pretty good at racing games, and another for people who are the “hardcore sim” guys. It baffles me that Milestone just makes two different difficulty levels and even the hardest one I could beat with my eyes closed, with a 30 second headstart and crash a couple times.
I’ve said this before, but why don’t they let a high level player like myself (top 10 in the world on some tracks) or others do some laps and races, and then just have the AI do the same thing. Surely they have the programming and tech to do this?
Just my 2 cents. Does anyone know if that’s impossible? Someone get in touch with milestone and tell them I’ll do some laps for free to make the game better for everyone
You're also saying that if a game is harder, you'll keep it longer? Depends on whats offered in the next game? By saying that, you just endorsed that a challenging game is a fun game that you'll want to play. It works both ways if the game is easy to beat and no challenge are you less likely to buy the next one?
I just want options. If I suck at the game I can play on beginner difficulty, if I want a nail-biting challenge in the career then I play in realistic (and maybe doing so unlocks something special in-game).
I don't think it's too much to ask.
It probably was right and may have been it's max skill setting and I know some criticize MXGP and it's AI so it may be 100% valid. But I think we should wait till it's in our hands before proclaiming the AI worthless.
However, I do agree that a lot of developers could learn a thing or two from Codemasters. For sure.
What I would like is more intelligent AI, not just unrealistic speeds. But AI that runs good lines, rarely crashes AND has great but realistic speed.
Plenty of games keep track of online records. You can check world leaderboards, compare stats with your friend list, etc.
I'm sure it can't be that difficult to do.
But again, I think it would be best to let's see where the game stands once out. Yeah, as in most MX games, some will prob be able to smoke the AI but we need to wait and see. I've never really had that problem but again I do things a bit different.
If you have zero assists, manual shifting, dual braking, hardest difficulty and for sure are using ZERO rewind then I'd suggest trying the 8 second runoff after crashing. It may not be ideal but resetting with no penalty is not at all realistic so we should be able to do our part to help game out as well. Asking for blazing AI but instantly resetting after a crash seems off to me.
Milestone should implement an option for a penalty after crashing of some sort. But again, I realize that is for more the hardcore fan.
Just saying, though, it does even things up quite a bit.
That being said, I love these games and cant wait for this to come out.
