I get what your saying. I will say I hated the last games when I would race AI on my real yz and every other bike were just fake bikes Dry I feel that it wouldn’t be hard to program the game to where if a person buys a DLC bike, then it will replace the AI model generic bike with that bike. Kind of like Forza does when you buy dlc cars and see AI drivatars driving them. I feel like that should be somewhat expected being 2018, and if not then that’s just laziness on Nordics part, because that comes down to the code. Hopefully they really put in the time into this game.

Well first, it's 99 cent I believe per bike. So you end up paying 2 dollars to have the 250 and 450 per brand. And then if you want to throw in two strokes, there's another 99 cents per bike. You then throw in multiple brands, that 10 dollars goes very quick, and you still don't have all the brands. Milestone gives you Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, and TM 250s and 450s along with two strokes FREE right off the bat. If you paid for that in Nordic land, that would be near 30 bucks. It's just unnecessary and an extra money grab for Nordic. I can see paying extra for tracks. I get that. The only time I'll bitch about that is if the game comes with 12 or less tracks and they want you to pay for extra tracks. That's a half ass attempt at a game in my eyes.

Second, It's the realism effect. Some people care for it, some don't. Some people care that there's all generic bikes on the starting line (no add on DLC will change out the AI look). It's the authentic look. Again, it's a half ass attempt at a game. They have the sponsoring and rights to the manufactures, yet you're racing generic looking bikes in the year 2018 where we're so technologically advanced.

So you don't like the fact that you actually get traction in a rut when they're formed on a track as opposed to Nordic's ice hockey rink effect going into and coming out of corners? Have you ever taken a dirtbike through a rut? You do realize that when someone is flying around a track in real life, they say that person is "on rails"?????
Geez dont take it personal, what we dont know is how the MVA game responds to ruts, bumps or anything, but milestone is the same old same old.
No suspension, no whoops (thats right, 2ft deep bumps are not whoops) and dude have you checked out the milestone gameplay? They are skidding around more out of the corners than i do in my old Volvo

I kinda figured this was going to be the case. I'd hope this is because this is something they're working on. We'll see.

Also, Sorry about the super long screenshots.

I'm not sure how you thought i was taking it personal..?

Anyway, yes in MXGP 1 and 2 there was a lot of sliding. A lot of that was corrected with MXGP 3, in my opinion. The new supercross gameplay looks to be going back to the sliding bs, which I'm not a fan of. And I'm not a fan of the bike having no reaction going through the whoops either. I really hate how stiff the riders are on the bike, but I like the MXGP experience as a whole a lot better. I've grown to really like the physics, traction, and track deformation of MXGP 3.

I just could not get over the lack of traction, the ice hockey rink effect, turbo boost out of the corners, shooting to the moon, and the weightless bike of MVA games. The bike would literally stand up on the nose if you hit a bump coming out of a corner and just stay there for a solid 3 seconds or more. If that is all corrected in the new game, the authenticity of bikes will be the least of my worries. But I refuse to pay for OEM DLC. I think it is a gimmick and kind of crooked.

I think its lame you have to pay an extra $20 - $30 to get the OEM bikes. Not only that, after you pay all the extra money, its still generic as hell with everyone but you is riding a blaze 450 or a Rainbow 250 - no realism.

I have yet to play a MX vs ATV game that required me to use brakes in a supercross 180. The physics are bad in MVA, on-ground DEFINITELY being worse than MXGP. The only difference is that in MVA the bike is completely free and you can whip. But all the stuff that goes into actual racing (what I like) is better in MXGP.

the beauty of it is that you don't HAVE to buy all the bikes. buy the ones you want, and that's it. couple bucks, big whoop. the game is coming in at a good price-point. the people that want the DLC will pay for it, the people that are fine with riding a Dakumoto will do just that. i will probably buy the KTM and Husky 250f and 450f bikes because that's what i will wan to play with. shit, i spend more on beer per week, and some people are complaining about it...

the only thing i hope they don't do is release 6 tracks and then have to buy the rest (looking at you Alive). i feel like that was a chicken shit thing to do. there better be a good amount of tracks right off the bat.

when tracks come out down the road, i am fine with spending some more money to have them.

99 cents? Try $2.99 per bike, or you could buy a “manufacturer bundle” for $9.99 which would get you all the bikes/atvs from one manufacturer. 6 manufacturers at $10/ea and that’s $60 just to get all the OEM bikes. Then another $2.99 for a gear pack that includes 5 colorways, another $9.99 for an environment that usually has two MX tracks and a free ride. You can see where this is going.... lol

I have zero insight into what they are doing for All Out. Prior though the reason they were DLC was due to licensing agreements. When they are DLC, you only had to pay a percentage of royalties on what was actually sold rather than a percentage of every game sale. This also made it easier to negotiate the rates and costs. The hard part is that the genre is still small enough where they would still need to basically pay to have OEMs rather than the OEMs wanting to be in the game. Again, I don't know what they are doing now but that is what is was before. That is why you got the knock off brands for AI.

Hopefully, it's both, right? Hopefully, you can navigate your bike into a formed rut and blast around and out of a corner, AND when there's little to no rut, you can break the bike end out and around when you're hard on the gas, just like real-life riding.

What I'm NOT a huge fan of is hitting a corner wide open in 5th gear so I can double preload a six-jump rhythm section. Rythm racing? Who cares, I'll just jump the entire thing. But, my whip looked good though so...Braaaaap!

Hey Triton,

I was just wondering if you'd like to share your thoughts on the two new MX-related games coming out?

It's way too early to know anything for sure, but I think they both look good. All Out looks like an improved version of what we've seen from Rainbow (at least regarding graphics and animations). Honestly, I'm a little shocked at what Milestone is doing. They seemed to have gone "All Out" in creating their first American-based SX game. The graphics, the 360 interfaces, the authenticity and they even scanned the riders (different bodies, different faces). That's a lot of investment of resources, etc. I hope they see a return on that investment.

Exactly. Not only that but DLC isn't new. Plenty of other games do it. Just take a look at GTA V and how many millions of dollars it brings for them. From a business point of view it makes total sense.

You don't have to buy them if you don't want to.

One thing people seem to forget is that one has Monster backing. You think Milestone is going to advertise them for free? Hell no. I have no idea how much they put into the game but for it to be the official supercross game I'm sure they made a significant contribution to Milestone.

The bigger budget you have the better people you can hire to program the game. It's that simple really.

Nordic is simply doing what they can with what they have. Looks to be a big improvement over Supercross and Supercross Encore if you ask me.

I would love it if you high sided out of a corner because the rut blew out or because you didn't have the throttle control. No sarcasm.

Agreed to the whole 2nd part. Who gives a shit about whips if you are doing whole rhythm sections in 1-2 hops.

Who tf needs every bike from every brand?

People will also gladly throw this kind of money around in-app purchases for games on their phones etc. Trying to act like Nordic is some slimeball company forcing you to pay extra is a clueless opinion.

You guys WOULD bitch and moan if you played Rainbow Six or Call of Duty games.

Talk about spending coin on a game and DLC. Hundreds and Hundreds of dollars for shit in those games.

Agreed to the whole 2nd part. Who gives a shit about whips if you are doing whole rhythm sections in 1-2 hops.
Funny you should say that... I was playing MXGP 2 last night and I thought; "I really wish when you wreck, you had to run back over to your bike, get on it, buckle your pants back on, start it and then go." In all seriousness though. That would be awesome. Talk about consequences.

Man, to each his own, but my God, all everyone talks about are whips. Its like so low on my list as far as what is important. It's cool and all but track scale, track realism, proper braking, throttle control, somewhat intelligent AI, authenticity...man, those aspects just seem to be some people's afterthought as long as they can whip. I don't get it.

But most don't get my obsession with authenticity and replicating the real series so there you go. To each his own.

Between the two games, hopefully everyone will be satisfied. It's going to be a good year for MX/SX gaming.

Personally I don't get all the bitching and complaining. 2 different games, 2 different audiences. Pretty simple. Some will prefer one over the other and others will like both for different reasons.

I'm buying both.

It’s not all about the whip, it’s about the freedom of the bike in your thumbs. If the physics allow for free flowing loose whips, it also means the bike physics are free in your thumbs everywhere else - which is what makes the game fun & satisfying to play. Which is why Reflex remained fun to play for years on the same tracks over and over and over again, the freedom of the bike in your thumbs. That’s why people look at the whip physics on any new upcoming installment, it’s a direct view into what we’re in store for regarding physics.

Pinned thru a 180, maybe a slight grab of the clutch. No braking or slowing down. Pass. Keep your whips, I'll get the game that comes...

Looks pretty good to me.. Pops the rut, let off or a bog for direction change, then zap of the clutch to get going. Also sounded like clutching a bit off the face for some extra umph. I'm really liking what the rear suspension is dying all through this video, seems to be in the right portion of the stroke for the given obstacle or load. Excited to see more video!

This is pretty on point. When I prototyped the controls for Reflex I used Untamed initially. It worked to kind of prove the controls out but it wasn't until the physics came in for Reflex that it really started to show its potential. Reflex is still one of my favorites as well. You never got to see the SX side of Alive but a few here got to play it. It had the scale fixed and was so fun. I think the scale ended up being around 110% which was about right. There was no jumping entire section or 6 or 7 jumps at a time. It's too bad THQ tanked all of it really.

This makes more sense. It's about control, not whips. But most don't talk about it like you just did.

I'm with Maverick. I know what my preference is, far and away. But it is two completely different approaches. Nothing wrong with that.

I don’t understand the uproar about the whole dlc thing. I could see if the game was $60 and didn’t include all the bikes, but damn just use the $10 you saved to get the real content. Dry

Talk about spending coin on a game and DLC. Hundreds and Hundreds of dollars for shit in those games.

That's a bold assumption, considering I've happily paid a lot of money for DLC in games like GTA and Rock Band. You also missed the part where i said i would gladly pay for tracks as DLC. I'm just not into the gimmick any more of paying for something that should be included in the game.
