My apologies if there was already a thread on this (I couldn't find one), but I'm curious about the 250 LCQ that was red-flagged. They announced that they reason they red-flagged it was because a bike was interferring with the gate. How is this possible when you have to be at least a foot behind the gate since it is backwards falling? Did somebody jump and completely block the gate from dropping? Regardless, I thought it was a very odd reason to red flag a race when they were already 4 laps into the race.
Worked out well for Izzi and not so well for Daniel Blair.

I was ATL and saw the red flag mess up... it was the 250LCQ.
The 30 second girl walked off the track right after the camera guys left the track... BUT meanwhile the ref (standing 30 yards in front of her on the start straight) is watching his stopwatch not her, and starting to wonder why everyone's bike is pinned.
Then he looks behind him (no 30sec board).... now the girl realizes she messed up and walks back on the track and puts the board back up.... just as the ref walks off 'cause 30 seconds is up. Now the riders are really confused.. some waving, others still pinned with a smoking clutch watching the gate... She hustles back off just as the gate drops.
A number of guys yard saled on that first lap, only to get the red flag.
Funny thing, on TV the FIM guy said someone jumped... yeah right, they had no clue what was going on! LOL... guess it's not a good idea to give the 30 board to a new chick each week.
On another note... Izzi's three good starts from WAY on the outside of the gate (2 LCQ starts and the main) were awesome to watch.
You can see him here #72. This is a pic i took from the first start.
I can remember a race where we had a full gate, got the signal and .... and .... and ....
Everyone is pinned, you can't hear a thing and you're afraid to look up cause you know as soon as you do the damn gate will drop. It went on forever before finally someone ran down the line slapping us all on the helmet to shut down. The gate got stuck and wouldn't drop. lol I was just glad I didn't blow the motor or fry the clutch too bad.
