Tomac was better last year

Tomac scored 498 points last year. This year, 439 so far, but best he can do now is 489.

So weird after how good he was in SX this year. Definitely seems to be the case of being a better chaser than leader.

If Dungey raced this summer, he would have gotten over 500 points for certain. But you wonder if Tomac would have elevated his game, or kept riding the way he has.

I have no doubt in my mind that Dungey would be leading this championship if he didn't retire.

This is not true. I personally saw the 2016 Eli Tomac race the 2017 Eli Tomac in the Twilight Zone and the 2017 Eli was waaaay faster. The 2015 Tomac beat them both for a while but was unable to make any rounds after Colorado. The 2018 Eli Tomac was...well I actually can't talk about that part...Universal Law and all that.

Well, Js7 was better in 2008, Ryan Dungey was better in 2015. I can go on and on. I'm trying to think why are you losing sleep over Tomac being better last year than this year.

I don't think he or his team cares about what happened last year. The focus is winning the championship this year in the next round for them. Hopefully it goes well for him & wins the championship.
