At first I really didn't care. No big deal... I thought.
But after several years of a dominant racer (either RC or JS or CR or JM), I can see the loss of semi's is wrecking SX.
If you think of an evening when only the top 4 make the main, and then 2 semi's, and then an LCQ, it's not hard to see the action is GREATLY improved.
Semi's raise all boats. It helps the stature of the top tier racers. It improves the evening program immensly. Seeing second tier racers dicing like crazy men makes the spectators feel satisfied. In the current system, the spectator feels cheated. 2 heats and a meaningless LCQ. It might work for TV, it will doom this sport.
Bring back the semi's to SX racing. The current system didn't elevate the big bike racers, it brought them down to tiddler level.
If TV is the reason, then TV is wrecking the sport.

While we are at it, I wish they would say the hell with timed qualifying in the Nationals as well.
The outcome may be the same. But..... James'es victory is diminished. James is right, why have a main when the heat decided everything? I said, having semi's does more for James Stewart than it does anyone. That is probably hard to comprehend.
Having the semis, gives credience to racing among the 2nd tier racers. This IS important. SX cannot survive without the 3-12 racers. The need....... is to elevate the class of racers in the second tier. It may sound strange, but without a credible 3-12 class, the 1-3 class is boring. BORING, this is the kiss of death to SX.
Bring back the semis, or kiss this sport goodbye!
btw....... those transponder day "races" are horseshit...... too many guys only put in one good hot lap, too many guys sitting on the peak of a jump "resting"...... no "real" racing going on... and, it's the number one reason it's not worth my time to show up at noon on race day and blow another $100-200 on beer, snacks, ect......

Not the fact our SX's don't hold semis or MC, RC, James and Chad are that much better than the rest.
Government is on an all out assault on OHVs, period.
The sport and everyone associated with it should be very worried and be fighting tooth and nail for it's survival.
not me of course
but some would
somewhere
maybe
If you really want to use TV race coverage to grow this sport, then have a bikini race in the mud. That'll get ya the crowd of uninformed idiots you're looking for.
he only thing it does is add moer laps.....it doesnt help ANY riders
Yes it does, it helps them get a spotlight, it helps them get a short interview to throw their sponsors in that they normally, probably, wouldn't get.
I know there are a lot from our area that quit going to SX after they went when they dropped semi's. They have never been back either.
The short lap times hasn't helped either.
Less racing=less spectators.
the internet ruined jlaw.
JLaw ruined JLaw
haha
Pit Row
That's so funny. You could also leave the t out of posters.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how open-pipe Kawie street bikes running wide open through the pits helped the problem. Same with the freakin idiots rolling all the jumps on two strokes on the mx track with NO PIPE.
They just let people with no exhaust show up and ride. Hell, it irritates the crap out of me, and I am there at the track riding.
Basically, the format SUCKS.
But you and everyone else is correct, joeblow "fan" doesn't know any better, although the older joeblows just dont show up anymore as there is less racing to watch and drink to. Less racing to bet a beer on the winner. Too much fru fru fluff.
Post a reply to: Stewart's not ruining racing, no semis is
