MXGP 3

Yeah after the 450 is fully modded I think it is better or equal in all categories. Speed and acceleration are both a 10 if I remember correctly. It's pretty stupid. I haven't played 3 online yet but in MXGP2 it was Halloween every race.

I've never touched my suspension settings either. Not sure where I rank, but I can get around a track pretty fast.

I run manual braking. On a lot of those sharp corners, you can dump the rear brake and use only front, and it lets the bike settle into the corner better. Also, on big sweeping corners where the bike wants to push, you can feather the front and it'll let you carve a little tighter line. I use front brake-only about 60% of the time.

I highly encourage switching to manual transmission, as well. Once you get the feel of it, your lap times will drop like crazy.

As far as struggling with the track in the early going, really not-so-much. It does take a little different technique to get around the corners without a berm, but hey, you have to do that in real life as well.

What about suspension settings for 450s for any of you guys that are top100 on the tracks?

I'm usually around top ~200-250, and trying to figure out how to pick some additional speed up.

Preload - Rear increased +2 to help w/ turn in
Spring stiffness. both F&R turned down 2-3
Compression - Turned up +1 on F&R
Rebound - F down 2, R down 3

The bike corners well (ktm) but through choppy stuff (lommel, or Losail small group of doubles/woops at the beginning), the bike is seems to be a bit unruly.

Can you notice a difference?

I'm top 100 on quite a few tracks on Xbox and have never changed the settings
Well, for example, on Losail I was 258th using my single suspension setting that I use for all the tracks.

I spent some time tailoring the suspension for that particular track (smooth, big jumps, and needing to turn in on those huge bowl turns) last night. I dropped a little over 2.5 seconds and got to 57th on that track.

I just tried a ktm 450 for the first time and noticed that it was faster than the yam I was using, I just put in a lap time 37th on qatar

Milestone is a European developer so it doesn't surprise me that they would make the Euro bike the best. Still BS though.

So what is the deal with KTM having the best stats in the last two games? I wish they would make the bikes all even. If you are racing any other bike online it's a disadvantage. There are some of us that start getting tired of the color orange.

I'd be VERY surprised if that is the case! I have always heard people say the KTM's have more power etc. They are also a pretty dominant force in the sport. OK there are other manufacturers doing well but KTM worldwide have good results.

If you were to truly rank all of the bikes, would you really not have KTM somewhere near the top?

I knew somebody would eventually throw this out there. I would agree if we were comparing stock bikes. But at the factory level we all know these bikes ain't stock and it only comes down to the rider.

Agreed. the comment someone made was about the game giving the KTM the best stats though. My point is, one of them had to get the stats, KTM is a good candidate based on their worldwide performance, I don't think its because the people that make the game are from Europe

The bikes have their own stats, but what about the riders? In the Rossi games all riders have stats for different skills - braking, throttle control etc, plus your custom rider in MXGP has a stat sheet so it's possible, for example, that Gasjer will have better stats than say Nagl. Maybe someone on PC can have a look under the games skirt...

Also, what lap times are you guys running on the new SMX track? It's not available in time attack (yet) so putting a heater down can be less than ideal.

How do you find the Supercross track at the compound? I can see it on the map but I rode around and couldn't find it.

Oh sorry, I was talking about the DLC supercross track. For the compound, find a boundry fence and just follow it. It can be a hassle, no real obvious way to find it, plus there is no timing either. Also you may have found it with out knowing - its almost a hybrid national/supercross so it's not super tight or anything and in some parts it's almost indistinguishable from the national track

I just experienced a weird glitch while racing online. The camera got stuck on the starting gate. Even when I switched views it was stuck there. I could control and watch my rider go off into the distance lol. Hope that gets fixed though.

Don't you start on the Supercross track at the compound or is there another one?

Love the new SMX DLC track. You can tell that 3's engine will work great with Supercross. (Hint, hint.) Scale feels accurate. If you had some tight SX tracks, man this engine would shine. Crossing fingers for the future and what I talked a lot about a while back. Hope I'm actually right down the line.

Great job, Milestone.

So I bought the Xbox version, I still have time to take it back and just buy it on Steam. Anyone have any input on whether or not to switch to PC version?

That video review says that it's pretty common when you have more then 4 or 5 people in a race.

I've have never been able to get into any room, have my ps4 in a DMZ yet it can't joint any freely available rooms.

Game dun cheap, get shit game.

Anyone have an extra long loading screen before entering each race? I find myself waiting at 10% for like 30-40 seconds every time.

Also, there's some weird glitch with wheelies. If you get too nose high on a wheelie going down a straight away, you hit an imaginary "bump" and the bike starts flipping. There's no hump on the track through I've done the rewind feature up to right when I pulled the wheelie and ride over the same exact spot on the track, and there's no bump.

It is plenty of fun! Especially for me cause I'm struggling to get further up than 6th haha (my shitty hands can't do the body lean set up, so I've gotta run semi pro semi automatic semi whatever else) so it's holding my interest..
I like how you've (well I) have to be patient in the turns and shit.. getting a little annoyed with the 'shoot directly off the track at slow speeds' though
I'll definitely buy a sx game if it's the same.. bigger tracks and stuff obviously

What is everyone running for control wise? What do y'all shift with? Circle and square is awkward as heck
Hi Everyone,
I think I have some great setup Tips to share with you...
Please try them and let me know what you think.
Firstly, the Controls. Forget about "Automatic". Manual is the only way to go.
With the bike in Auto, it wastes so much time. The bike sits on Redline far too long. Rather than hooking the next gear just as it hits Redline. It's like it can't think what to do. It doesn't know if you're coming onto a straight or about to hit the Brakes to go into a corner.
Even if you think it is difficult, once you get the hang of it it's a far better experience.
Yes the factory configuration sux.
Button placement is not good. Feels unatural. I especially don't like the fact that I have to take my thumb of the right stick. Put it down onto the correct button then move it back up onto the "Rider Lean" stick. When you use "Pro" physics. You want to have your thumbs on both sticks at all times for continuous control.
So... I change my Controller to (R3=Gear Up) and (L3=Gear Down). Gears can now be shifted while both thumbs stay on the Sticks. Note: You can't button mash anymore but don't worry. You get better anyway because you are more conscious of your thumb movements.
Next up is "Rear Brake". Also when using "Pro Physics" it automatically splits the Front and Rear Brakes between two buttons. Front Brake stays at "L2" and Rear brake goes to maybe "Circle"?
I can't remember, because it also sucks.
Still don't like removing my Right Thumb off that "Lean" stick, it's far too important for continuous control. And it would also mean you can't "Lean Inward or Outward" whilst coming into the corner and using "Rear Brake". So dumb.
Ok so where else can "Rear Brake" go then? There's only one place left and it's actually the most perfect place for it to go...
(R1=Rear Brake). Let's think about it...
You come flying into a corner with some extremely "Late Braking" (the fastest way).
The last thing you are going to be doing is accelerating (R2=Accelerator).
So all you need to do is move your finger slightly from R2 to R1 then back onto R2 with a dab of L1.
L1 because you'd only ever slide the rear on a very tight corner. With a rut or berm is great when you can slide the rear wheel into it. Then as you are pulling away..
R3...R3.......R3....L2 L3.L3.then R1 to slide that back into the hairpin rut.
Now....
This is the tricky (and stupid) bit...
The developers have programmed R1 for "Chat" and it is locked there

Peely, just do it. It's the best game since Reflex, bar none. If you saw that YouTube review that was posted here last week, I can't add a damn thing to it, it was spot-on.

One tip: When you get it, go straight to "Pro" physics and then set it to "manual" shifting. Auto shifting runs too high RPM range, it's like you're bouncing off of the rev limiter the whole time, and it's hard to get traction. Set it to manual and a 450 actually feels like a 450 (same with a 250F).

Finally start to see a more active mulitplayer presence, I raced for about an hour the other night with no fewer than 6 riders on the gate. Fun stuff.

I used L3 and R3 to shift in MXGP2 so I did not have to take my thumbs off the sticks. I have not tried to do this in the new game yet but I would think they would still let you.

Yeah, I suggested shifting with L3 and R3 on these forums way back in 2014 on MXGP 1 all the way up to release time of MXGP 3. It works great. Smile

Has anyone come up with a good controller scheme for the xbox? shifting with x and b makes it harder to lean for me.

Is there any difference(maybe physics wise?) between pro and semi-pro other than separate front and rear brakes? I don't have enough time under my belt to notice a difference and google wasn't much help.

Yes Simi pro allows you to also choose to have semi auto rider weight distribution. I suggest use pro and starting out with realistic, after a few races I was able to start catching the back of the pack towards the end of 3 laps.

Thanks. I'm coming from MX vs ATV Encore, so I have MXGP3 set up on semi-pro with manual rider weight distribution and manual shifting since I'm already used to those, but I can't find a button I like for the rear brake. I like L2 for the front but can't find anything for the rear that doesn't feel awkward. I'm just wondering if I'm at a disadvantage by running semi-pro instead of pro. My semi-pro setting looks the same as the pro setting except for the dual brake setup. I didn't know if there might be any other differences that you would experience or "feel" the bike do that weren't listed, like some sort of more realistic physics or something.
