I'm 14 years old. I have never rode a motorbike in my life and I'm looking to start motocross. I'm around 5 foot 9. I really have no idea where to start. I have a budget of around £2000 but I will go higher if needed. I am willing to buy used.
What recommendations would anybody have on a first bike to start motocross.

A 125 in you budget could also be a grenade but it will be cheaper if something happens.

Not the freshest whip out there but the low cost, low maintenance and low seat will have you riding more confident and riding more, not counting hours.
Suspension will become an issue. Hard to say when though, you might get a year out of it before your skill set demands more.
That 2010 KX250F is a great place to start, as long as it isn't roached.
Pit Row
While most here would say do everything yourself, (and that's not a bad idea) at some point you'll have to build a relationship with a dealer. Now is as good a time as any.
I would lean toward a 125 or a CRF230 as well. Get the basics down, and then when you're ready to upgrade, keep the bike as it will be perfect for all the chicks you're gonna pull 'cause you're riding moto. haha
The 230 is a good advice the 1st year to build confidence, the power for a beginner can be scary and a few crashes later can put people away from the sport. Then 125 2 stroke or 250 4 stroke.
I would suggest to keep 500 in your budget for safety equipment. Example I have some fox gear (chest protector and 44 boots) ridden 1 afternoon that i can give away for £150 shipping included via PayPal. Gumtree may help too, but i think there is a great mx site to buy/sell in the uk i don't remember the name of. Ebay is ok too. The best is still to try it before buying.
Good luck!

2 stroke 125 or 85 big wheel.
If you can't fix or afford maintenance on a 125 or pay someone to fix it, you were going to come up way short on a 4 stroke anyways
