Quite possibly the slowest Yamaha ever. Yamacross...I mean Motocross Action tested the all new 93 YZ80 around the same time and proclaimed it (the 80) the fastest Yamaha in the 125 class.Laughing

Sure is clean and I always liked those charcoal colored forks.

Sometimes you just have to combine the things that you like about multiple bikes to make the dream work. (See avatar)

We made a deal and had a buddy pick it up who lives close, even has the original title, 100% original other than all the stickers.

The seller sent me these pics after I messaged him. I'll post some more when I get it to my place and cleaned up.

It looks so 'fresh' just needs a couple stickers removed. Find a way to make that tank white again, paint the frame and you have a perfect bike. What do you plan to do with it? Emig replica maybe?

You can still find the factory effex version of those tank graphics and the swing arm stickers on eBay if they need to be replaced.

Plan to remove the non oem stickers, new tires, chain and sprockets and a clutch lever then clean and lube everything.
I'd like to use oem parts but I haven't found a K695 tire yet and the chain and rear sprocket are unavailable from Yamaha although I'm sure I can find something close.
Then I plan to play with it in our vintage series.
I remember dreaming of having one of these bikes when I was in my early teens, I'm 39 now.

That's funny, a couple years back I found 93 YZ125 in almost the same condition. Oh, and stock pipe in perfect condition as well.

That's awesome! We are heading up to the in laws next weekend and I made a promise to myself that if the bike was still available I would drive out from Lansing area to go pick it up. That's a great score, even if they weren't the best. I'm 35 and I remember when Yamaha revamped the whole line up for 93. I wanted a YZ80 like no other! That's a great score and I'm glad you're gonna ride it!

I too live near Lansing. I couldn't make it over to get it until Sunday so I had a buddy who lives close go grab it. He's coming to my place tomorrow for a party and is bringing it along.
I remember the 93's, 94's and 95's loved them in my teens.

You nailed it! A friend of mine had one of those, and asked if I would put a fresh top end in it for him since he was learning basic maintenance. A quick spin after the work was complete, and I thought I totally fucked something up big time! He rides off, returns with a smile saying "Runs better than the day I bought it new!" Damn that bike was a lame, gutless wimp

In 1994 I bought a new YZ250 and a used 93 yz125, and a used 93 YZ80 that 250 was my favorite, the yz 80 was fast as hell for an 80. Top end was crazy on the 80. The 125 was sluggish. After changing pipe, , and some other tricks done to the motor it brought it around. I liked that bike for riding wheelies it got a lot of bikinis down lol.

I am 39 yrs old and the 1993 YZ125 was my last new bike. Dealers offered a GYT kit that included a titanium subframe, and 'YZR' pipe that I think pro circuit made.

I liked it enough to keep it for two seasons. We experimented with all sorts of setups. From a rad valve and pipe, to Moto Tassinari ported 1990 cylinder.

Pulled 5 pounds of stickers off. New tires, chain and sprockets ordered.

Looking good! Hey let me know if you find anyone who offers a trim kit for this bike. My fork guard decals have taken a beating.

The flo colors will be a challenge for evo. If doing an entire kit then its not a problem, but trying to match fork decals for instance might be.

Very nice bike! The 93s looks good enough to be placed in the bedroom Smile

Lots of low hour original survivors around, I like it.

New Dunlop’s, fresh suspension, new chain and sprockets, cleaned and lubed all pivot points, cleaned and sealed Air-box and lots of elbow grease.

I want to do something with the fuel tank yet, the staining is driving me crazy. I also picked up a complete new plastic kit for it for penny’s. So, I did what any Moto fan from the early 90’s would do. I ordered an Emig kit for it and will put the oem stuff away in a box and ride it a little.
