I remember that in GPs, 4-5 years ago, frossard was paid 100k by acerbis only to wear their mxgears!
Searle and tonus at kawa were getting like 250-300k
Strijbos as a privateer for a private team that no more exists, 110k
Now top rider are about on 4-500 plus personal sponsor.... herlings 800k and tony 1 mln

Calm down there hot rod, Forkner's rookie contract was actually posted on Vital. I'm sure there are a lot of people that did "right click, save as" before it was removed and can tell you his exact pay structure. I didn't save it and don't remember the exact numbers but it was more than I would expect.

Do you guys recall the contract Josh Hansen signed with factory KTM back in the 05-ish time frame? I feel like it paid like 150k - 250k - 500k staggered for 3 years? Right around that time he bought a Lamborghini then went 125 SX only not too long after? Not sure of the specifics but I do remember his Troy Lee Designs Vegas gear was fire. Wish I could find an unused set from 12 years ago!

My only real question is, how creepy do you need to be to ask your "racer buddy" how much his contracts are for?

I wouldn't ask my best friends that I've known since kindergarten how much they make or how much they pay individual employees, but it sounds like there's a few folks on here that don't mind the sliminess of that sort of thing.

Sports that publish salaries are quite a bit different.....

You really think these hotshit 18 year olds making good money and on their way to millions aren't running around SoCal flashing their money signs to every chick and all the social cliques around there? I know I would have. I doubt they even have to be asked.

Roczen and Barcia were swinging their d***s around publicly on twitter about who spent the most money. And those guys have been around a while. You think when all these guys are partying that they aren't spreading the word about who's making what? So if you're involved in that social scene or work for any of the sponsoring companies you're going to get a feel for the ranges.

And on my average-guy end of things, I don't care what one individual is making, I want to know ranges for different levels of riding. It's part of the sport and it's really interesting.

Personally, I don't think these guys make squat for the level of expertise they have in their profession. When you consider they pay for their own health insurance, lawyers, agents, trainers, practice mechanic, practice track, quality food, and a million other things. They don't net very much.
