A lot of people jealous of Matthes' on here....

Not really. He gets kicked out of parties with Monstah Chicks! This because he likes to bash on brands, but at the same time he wants to be the cool, inner circle guy who enjoys the things that those brands bring to the Motocross world, he wanna enjoy the upsides that those brands bring to his world. If you likes to bash you needs to accept that being an outsider is your role.

Also sometimes I have a feeling he doesn't really talks about what he's thinking, but just about what he knows will score. Bashing foreigners will score, for example at the start of the season he was already crying about Ferrandis his riding style because it was too aggressive. Blink Also about the flaggers and about team tactics and stuff like that, I know he probably 'knows better' or at least has different viewing points, because he's been too deep in the world of racing to be so ignorant.

Oh by the way, I met Josh Hill. To irritate him you need to be very "special".

Steve is basically the "eh, it's what we got" in our small sport. We all know he's awful. We all know he's got no class. We all know about 99% of the riders can't stand him and don't respect him (most will put up with him just so they don't have to deal with this type of drama) and we all know he will soon say the wrong thing and will become completely irrelevant.

Here's what we know about CP. He's one of the fastest and smoothest riders in the world. He is better than 99% of the world at riding dirt bikes. Not many people can say they're better than 99% of the world at something. That's special and shows how good he is at his job. He's a guy that keeps to himself and doesn't cause drama. He's a guy that's been through horrific injuries but came back to win a bunch of races and continue to be one of the best riders in the world.

I love how Steve starts off by calling Christophe Samantha. Thats classic. Here's a guy (Steve) who probably has to take a breather halfway up two flights of stairs making fun of a guy who is a world class athlete and in tip top shape. Nice try Steve. Have fun getting roasted by some of motocrosses biggest fans because that's exactly what's going to happen. 98% of people here will stand behind CP.
This is not a good post.

This thread is amazing to me.

1. Matthes and the Pulp brand he has built is the best thing that has happened to the moto media in the past decade. Previously, nearly every podcast, show, broadcast, or written interview took the approach of telling the rider how amazing they were etc regardless of their results and/or talent. Have you ever listened to DMXS? Izer literally praises every rider on their show as if they all walk on water and how big of a fan he has always been. Emig was on there recently saying Tomac wasn't holding the field up in Vegas and those riders just magically found another gear.....and he just agreed with him. What the hell?? Some of these riders are wasting away their career due to poor work ethic and poor choices, yet because they went fast at Lorettas for 20 minutes one time, they are just amazing. Yes, Matthes takes it a bit far sometimes, but would you rather have that or more cookie cutter, ball gargling interviews that bring no value? Think about riders and the controversy. Would you rather have rehearsed interviews, or have the riders say how they actually feel? Barcia won't talk to him because he has said Barcia is paid top 3-5 in the pits, yet consistently doesn't deliver results consistent with the pay. Why is that wrong to say/ask? His interviews with Tony Alessi/Reed/RV/Weege/JT/Keefer/ to name a few and all the privateers are awesome, even if you don't agree with everything he says. I am guessing those calling him out in this thread listen to all of his content.

2. Pourcel is an amazing talent, but nobody can argue his lack of effort over and over again. He would set the fastest lap and then fade to 15th in the main? Same thing outdoors. What about the Teams that have hired him in the past only to wish they hadn't with the drama filled excuses and quitting?

MX Matti, I am enjoying this covfefe like everyone else. but this is a truly off-the-mark characterization of Matthes. He doesn't actually care about the Monster after-party -- he doesn't even drink and was headed home anyway -- nor does he care to be popular or well-liked. He's sort of an agent provocateur who people read and either like or dislike, but admire for his consistently honest (if not always agreeable) personal take on things. He knows moto, not after-parties, and you can tell by looking at him that pretenses and appearances are not core values (sorry Steve). He's a pundit, and an opinionated one at that, and I think he adds something to the fabric of this sport. I do cringe at some of his barbs and takes -- personally, I am a big fan of Christophe, and I know that CP377 wrote his own stuff here, not his wife Samantha -- but that comes with taking risks in your opinions and you kind of have to now to get a reader's attention.

He's the ultimate insider, as well as the ultimate outsider, because he's not in this to be accepted or invited to the after-party (and it just isn't an after-party until Matthes gets thrown out). Enjoy his stuff, or don't -- he's okay either way. He's as critical of me as anyone, and I get it because his points are built on knowledge and experience, and worthy of a look in the mirror... And then and only then a giant "Go @$%! yourself" if its merited, Because he knows moto enough to be critical, if not always completely informed of what's really going on in one truck or another. That's a sports reporter/journalist's role: to offer perspective on what the fans have already seen, and why the score is what it is, and why their favorites either won or lost, because they aren't always going to tell you why the scoreboard reads the way it does....

Now someone show him the door(s) please. Let's get this after-party started!!!

I don't disagree with #1, Matthes is good for the sport. Maybe not great, but good. No matter how big of a douche he can be at times. But completely disagree on #2, that dude is lucky to be walking, let alone setting fast qualifying times. Can't imagine putting your body on the line like that (that goes for any pro).

If his body is that much of hindrance, how can he go 30+2 in Canada?

I didn't know much about Pourcel until I watched Goride beat down anyone on the Supercross.com message board who talked negatively of CP377. After watching a lot of videos of Pourcel's races I had to agree. The dude hauls ass, looks smooth, uses creative lines, and had horrific injuries. Respect for the enigmatic rider. Hope he wins often in Matthes' homeland.

Some of you guys are lucky to have Matthes. He's an easy target for anyone needing to purge themselves of their own inadequacies.

He's a dick, but he's our dick. So if don't like the fact he's got a hard on for everything maybe you should hang with the other pussies.

Same for Thomas, a certified contrarian dick but what would we do without him?

Can't say anything bad about Pourcel. Love anything he does on a bike and he even posts on Vital.
