There's chatter his death was possibly due to Auto-erotic Asphyxiation. So strange that he was in good spirits at last nights concert talking about playing their next show, then 3 hours later, this. With how happy he was to be traveling with his band again and doing great shows, it seems highly unlikely his death was intentional.

We'll see what additional reports say, but what a sad day. This guy had a voice like no other. Very few have that instrumental voice such as Maynard Keenan, Robert Plant, Kurt Cobain and most definitely Chris Cornell. R.I.P.

Have you ever listened to his music? it never seemed like music a happy person would write to me. The last song he sang was Zeppelin cover "In my Time of Dying" Seems like it was on his mind and would be a very strange coincidence if it was unintentional. but hey don't let that stop you from writing a CSI script for them.

Where is the hell did I say anything about the music he wrote. He was in good spirits last night at the end of his show in Detroit and traveling with his band. That was the extent of what I was referring to.

Stop being a dick and looking for a fight that isn't there. CSI script...go fuck yourself.

You say he more than likely died from Auto-erotic Asphyxiation, I call you on jumping to a weird conclusion without any evidence and I'm the dick. Okay, I can live with that but seriously evaluate your reasoning. Do you watch CSI ? because if watch a lot of something it can subconsciously effect how you process information.

I said, "there's chatter that he POSSIBLY", you interpreted that as I said "more than likely". The internet is in full blown fucking retard tonight.

Shocking! WTF? Another successful musician that seemed to have it all and then this. Just goes to show that mental health and well being is as important as, or more so, then anything else. It makes me think of the rich people living on top of the hill that are unhappy and miserable....and then the homeless people living under a bridge surrounded by friends and loved ones with a happy outlook on life. Sometimes life just doesn't make sense.

On another note: I saw Soundgarden open for Linkin Park many years ago. Cornell was a captivating front man, and when he came back out with Linkin Park and did a duet of Hungerstrike (a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden tribute to Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood) with Chester Bennington it gave me goosebumps when Cornell hit those high notes so fucking perfect. A stage presence that will truly be missed. Condolences to his friends, loved ones and family!

I think your third sentence (mental health/well being) is grossly underrated and under-appreciated by society. Mental health is so important.
Cornell was a hell of a singer, no doubt. Not familiar with a lot of his work, but what I know, I really like.
Until such time as people with mental disorders are not viewed as weak, bad characters, or a burden to society, things will not get better for those afflicted. Things seem to be improving on that front, at least up here, so there is hope. Happiness and a smile are sometimes the biggest facade someone with depression can put on, just hides the torment and misery within. Trust me on that one.

Still..........too soon?

Live it every day Bobby, and it's only since I hit rock bottom in mid February, did I get the train back on the rails. Back on Vitamin P and Wellbutrin, and waking up mad I woke up, has come to an end.

Not terribly surprising to want to look for any reason to blame it on. Of course the flip side could very well be that the meds delayed suicide for a decade or more.......

Depends on what drugs I guess. The drug companies make all sorts of goofy shit.

I haven't walked in their shoes.
About the closest I can relate is some quack Mormon doctor put me on beta blockers for my blood pressure a few years ago. I told him it felt like I was taking poison yet he kept pushing me to continue. It was the only time I felt actual depression. Not suicidal but real depression and got worse as I kept taking my scripts. I finally shit canned the pills and that pill pushing bastard. I started drinking a glass of red wine a day and a better diet. My BP still borderline but I do feel much better.

it will be interesting to see what comes back in the reports. If he was indeed taking ativan for anxiety he probably should have been taking other meds for long term effects as well. Ativan is typically used to provide short term relief not long term. It is commonly abused and extremely difficult to get off of. Cornell has a long history opiod abuse as well so who knows what his biochem situation was.

He was taking Ativan. His bodyguard gave him two (which in my mind, I would be concerned about if I was his bodyguard). Judging from some of the concert videos, he already appeared altered. Not long after that, Cornells wife called the bodyguard, to check on him. Hotel security would not let him in, so he kicked the front and bathroom doors down. They found Cornell down with a red exercise band around his neck, somehow connected to a carabiner he fastened on top of the door. Said blood was present from his mouth area.

Not surprising. The manufacturers keep telling us these meds may may you kill yourself and the docs keep saying they are fine. Who to believe? The guys that make it or the guys that sell it? Take your pic.

Yep, always amazed when they list the side effects of all the drugs advertised. If they cause that many issues why are they approved? My guess is $$$, guess I'm lucky and eat right, exercise and been blessed with decent genes, not sure if I would be willing to take some of these drugs that are prescribed to the masses....

They sure didn't want to. They were forced. Like the boner meds, "If you suddenly become deaf and blind see your doctor".

Man, his voice is spot on in that clip. I always assumed he couldn't sing like that anymore because of the strange way he sung in Audioslave and solo. Sucks, I always hoped for a some sort of 90's Seattle festival concert with what was left of the bands, but now it seems their hardly enough left to even form a supergroup.

Here was an interesting show. Mad Season with Duff and Cornell filling in for other dead guys with the Seattle Symphony.

Crazy, my phone sounds like shit playing music through the car stereo, so I got an old folder of cd's out of storage. Had been playing Audioslave on repeat for the last couple of weeks. RIP Chris Cornell.

I'm with GREEN on this one. Gave me chills too. I had never heard or seen this before.

As a side note, both Ian Curtis and Chris Cornell died the same way, on the same day.

Why would anyone want to do that. Minimum wage in Chris Cornell's Home state of Washington is higher than that.
