2000 BMW K1200Rs

Wife bought it for me to replace my old K75, which I sold for a down payment for the house.

Doesn't get ridden much, job change to a shitty area & out side parking!

It only has 35,000 on it. I need to ride it more......LMAO

I had one too. Had to sell it last year for family reasons(wife), I really miss it.

My 501 and my 300 are street legal also.

Oh yeah street legal dirt bikes that opens up a whole new can of worms. Smile

Sold my 520EXC in December which was a great dual sport bike and now I have this 350 XCF-W

We recently went on a dual-sport ride where we go by four Lakes and hit four saloons.

Re-geared it for this ride and it worked out really well.

Nothing like riding your dirt bike on the street and when you see a cop your adrenaline goes up from when you were a kid and you go into ditch mode.

But then you realize, "Oh yeah I'm street legal!" Cool .

MiniElsinore. It's Racedeck. Great product. Snap together plastic tiles. Very durable. And ramped edging for finished look.

Lost the Ducati 916 in Hurricane Katrina. Along with YZ426F and sons XR50. Then had CRF450r and Ducati 1198. Sold both in late '14. And moved on to 14 KTM450sxf Factory Edition.

1973 CB750K. Spent about 10 months rebuilding it in 2015. Possibly for sale, I've been bitten by the dual sport bug...

I resisted going on road for, well, forever.... But about 3 yrs ago I got my first on road bike.....

1. Yes, they are great fun. Especially nice to just walk out to garage and get in some riding.

2. Pavement hurts way worse to crash on than dirt.

3. Very interesting the politics involved at waving at other riders on the road.

Haha the politics are simple my friend. Harley guys don't wave at us, most cruiser guys in general don't wave at us and I think dual sport and supermoto guys are generally friendly with everyone. Oh yeah and motor 5-0 never waves.

I wave at everyone, even scooters. If a Harley goes by and doesn't wave back I switch the wave to the bird. Smile

Same here Void, except for the bird. Grinning

I'm not sure who I'm supposed to wave at, so I just wave at everyone. Grinning

Good choice now find some Dual Sport Buddies or a dual sport club event and the fun expands greatly. Smile

Bought this one, tuned the shit out of it, drove 350km and got the impression "ill die on this" and sold it later.

Graves 4-1 titanium exhaust
Graves intake runners
Quickshifter
Powercommander
Etc etc.

Never buying one again..

Ed921, you're on the right track. Dress for the crash, not for the ride. I wear leather ALL THE TIME. Even in 95 degree summer. It's only hot when standing still. Once moving, you're fine. Perforated helps. Most textile jackets now have armored panels or inserts. And most incorporate reflective in the piping. Jacket, gloves, boots, minimum. At all times. Good luck.

I like the bike, but get some gear! Pics like this make me wince...

Been a long time since I've posted, but I've been lurking. Got back on my 919 for the first time in a couple of years yesterday. Felt good to be back on two wheels again, body hurts like hell but the heart and mind feel much better. Missed all of 2016 after getting my knee put back together in the spring. Missed most of 2015, got out a couple of times on the highway, but that was more me holding two fingers up to the world in defiance, no way I was ready to be out, and I couldn't even get my leg over my dirt scooter, let alone start it. As for 2014, that didn't go so well...And I WAS wearing gear.

I've been busting my ass in rehab since then (managed a 32" box jump the other day. Not bad for an old guy!). Have a new street/track bike on order (it's a special one), should be here in June. Have new knee braces on order, should be able to get on the trails at least if not the track (not in any competitive fashion, anyway) on my dirt bike. I will never get to 100% again, but I'm still alive and back on a bike, and that's what really matters.

Stay safe everybody.

I've read a fair number of studies on this, and there is nothing that conclusively proves that hi-viz anything will make you more visible in that hundredth of a second out of the corner of someones eye (read up on "deceptive camouflage"). I personally believe that you want to present the strongest silhouette possible, so head to toe in a monotone color, black or white preferably, is my choice. Again, my thoughts. What isn't up for debate is that good quality leather or high quality textile gear with some impact padding will help save your hide.

As for nighttime visibility, good lights on your bike are a good start, and all those silly reflectors are there for a reason. I'm a little unsure about wearing reflective stuff. People seem to get pretty confused when they see something that doesn't seem to fit their frame of reference for whatever reason (see deceptive camouflage again) and make bad decisions (Again, my opinion, based on watching people over my 20+ years driving trucks of various sizes, in a part of the world that is very, very dark a few months of the year). Maybe keep anything reflective just red or red and white like that stuff they put on the back of trailers, basically try to look like something that belongs there that you wouldn't want to hit.

Much, yes, thanks. Plus, the bike appears to be moving! Trust me, you don NOT want to find out what the word "degloved" means...
