He is currently at 124 points, and will use up his final year of eligibility if he reaches 135 points.

He isn't racing tonight. Supposedly he is actually dealing with an injury.

I said it two weeks ago, no way he cares what we think, he will drop and hit the bank on the way home.
2018 contracts already signed, and he has one for 250 class.

The real question I want answered is will a certain KTM racer drop also, why waste a year of eligibility when it could mean job security to not get 135 points. I will not be surprised to see #30 and #38 score zero points tonight.

I believe he has to score 12 points. Remains to be seen if he'll have an illness or a mechanical to keep him from pointing out.

FYI Osborne has been in the 250 class for the same amount of years.

McElrath will have one more year of eligibility if he goes over 135 this year.

Anyone know what the details are on the changes that may be coming next year for the 250 points?

He went over in 2015, but not 2016. So he has one more year even if he goes over the limit.

That is discussed in the other thread. ML provided the clarification, and the new rule only extends the current rule by one year, or one championship.

Great news for the 250 class. Right now the 450 class is super staked, no need to throw in riders that would struggle there. I think it would benefit a few 250 champs too, not all can secure top rides after only 1 title over 3 or 5 seasons. 2 titles would show they are ready. Imo not all the riders are RV.

Everybody busts that dudes balls but he's a really good rider and I think it's good to have gatekeepers. Kind of lets you know where everybody else is and puts it into perspective.

If he's a really good rider then why can't he show it on a 450?

Way easier to make money right now. He's consistently top 5. Why wouldn't he stay? He's not gonna be the multi million dollar contract guy but he's putting in work and making a good living. Great gameplan.

Apologies to #38 & 30.

Admitting I was wrong, regardless of rules I wrote shit that was off base.

Going to donate some cash to Nelson because my mouth needs a lesson.

except osbourne left for the GP's for a few years.

Mike Brown did just this through the 90's and he was almost always on a 125.

Some guys just cant figure out the big bike.

Yeah I hope he did and can't get a ride cause there isn't any and has to quit cause it's what he deserves what a douchebag competing in a competitive class getting hired by teams trying to get paid for as long as he can in a sport that can be extremely cruel!

I think there are a number of people, not just on this forum either, that owe Shane an apology. You're the first one that's man enough to do it though. Good on you sir.

I know that Osborne raced the GP's for a couple of years but regardless it doesn't change the fact that he was still on the small bike and Mike Brown at least tried racing the big bike.

I just mentioned that Osborne has been in the 250 class just as long as Davalos because people don't say shit about it. I think that's because Zach went overseas for a couple of years so it doesn't appear like he's been in that class for as long as Davalos but the reality is that they've both been in the 250 class since 2006.

I can't remember where I saw it but apparently Davalos rides the big bike better than the 250 so if that's the case I have no idea why he hasn't tried racing the 450 on the opposite coast in supercross.

Either way they're both getting paid to do what they love doing so in the end I doubt they care what anyone thinks of it. People can say what they want but if they were racing professionally chances are they would do the exact same thing they are doing if they were in their shoes. Why go race a 450 as a privateer and spend your own money, move up to 450's for half the pay or not be on factory equipment when you can stay in the 250 class, make 6 figures and be on a factory team. Common sense really.

Trump will ban him from racing lites again through a new executive order. It's parasites like him coming over the border and taking rides from American riders. His contract is probably half of what a Mercian would command.
