Stewart, no question. RC talked about him and how he would be his biggest competition. I was there at A 1 during his first race. It was unreal seeing how fast he was.

Villopoto is probably number 1 in terms of results to hype ratio. Alessi being near the top in hype, and near the bottom in results vs hype (and not knocking on him with that...)

It seems like each amateur star is hyped more than the last. But I'd go with Stewart for most hyped. I think a lot are forgetting about Bradshaw, who was not only hyped, but delivered immediate results.

Was there really that much hype around Larry Ward? I remember it being a cool thing that a semi local got a Honda ride, but also that he was overshadowed by Bradshaw and even Kiedrowski at the time.

Was waiting for this one. The stories about Bradshaw were legendary prior to his move up... another was Ezra Lusk. Some crazy stories from his mini days but you knew he was destined for greatness.

Also have to give an honorable mention to Windham.

Imagine a 16 yr old kid beating tomac or dungey now, at an offseason race. that was insane

Things aren't as great thes days for mouse. Since the article, he's been through a divorce and the Bandito Production company has since folded.... Mouse has gotten out of the entertainment industry and has been trying his luck in a completely different type of business. When your head gets too big and your friends get tired of your pompous attitude, things can turn shitty quick !! He'll survive though, he's got some money in the bank.

Mouse was always a spoiled brat, but as he got older, it just got worse. He started thinking that he was James Dean or Steve McQueen and it hit hm in the ass !!

He grew up with my family, so I know about the past. Didn't know the recent events though..

I luckily got to watch him ride from 60's on at our place off Sand Canyon. You know the place...

800. i was around for Bradshaw. James stepped the level up, but the Alessi's brought it to another level. A young Mike Alessi was on another level, just a little older then RV and Mike used his age to try break RV's confidence in the ams. Interesting times it was. Nothing like it today.

In all fairness, "Hyped" is relative to the social media access available at that point in evolution. Until the 90's, it was maybe 3 magazines and Cycle News...

I cant believe it took so long for someone to mention Damon, dude won his first race as a pro against the best, not on a 125 but a 250, as a 16 year old

Paul Denis could be added to that. He's a member here. Shows up in Old School now and then.

How was I wrong? Did you grow up with the SCV crowd or just rip them off?

Not as wrong as you are about the snowmobile saving two strokes in California.

I'm still waiting for the link to those C.A.R.B. reports. Wink

I already pointed out how you clearly did not read the post, and replied without actually reading.

Yeah I have to agree. Here in the UK everyone knew about Alessi. Since social media AC has probably had the biggest hype. Right now it has to be DangerBoy Deegan! He's got some years to go, obviously, but the kid is insanely talented. I do worry about hype though, it's a lot of pressure to put on these kids. Seems like it has a negative impact more than a positive one.
