Not bitter or cryptic. I saw what real race fans are in Italy last year. People walking 5 miles to watch a race. Chain saws to make noise. I was at Colorado and did not see anything near the enthusiasm in the US. So what's wrong with going and enjoying that atmosphere.
evidently you've never been to Red bud because there sure isn't a lack of enthusiasm from that crowd.

Never been so you might be right. I saw Maggiora first hand and I can say without fact checking maybe the late 70's early 80's some US tracks drew large crowds but in the last 20 years nothing like Europe. IMO

Chicago O'Hare is about 2.5 hours away and Gerald Ford. Intl (Grand Rapids) is about an hour and a half. Only thing that can get backed up is the road going in (Red Bud Trail), but it moves fairly fast at the national.

Budds Creek was good but it doesn't compare to what he's talking about really

Try walking into the gates with your chainsaw and see if they let you in at a AMA national, aint gonna happen. I was at Budds Creek, it was good but not the same vibe as Red Bud. Plus it sucked getting in and out of Budds Creek compared to Red Bud.

I went to the Finnish GP a few years ago, I thought I was at a retirement community. If it wasnt for the shitty techno music blaring you wouldnt know anything was going on.

Having you been under a rock since 2011? A home track advantage can't overcome bad luck or bad riding. What if France wins again this year, and they come into Red Bud in '18 going for 5 championships in a row? You don't think they could win?

The days of USA being able to win MXdN by just showing up are long over. We've been France's bitch lately

Yep.
And do not forget Belgium. They're gonna be very strong this year with Lieber, Van Horebeek and Desalle.

Last time I was in that area (and not just the airport), was near Joliet where we watched the inaugural run of the Tropicana 400 on the new 1.5 mile speedway. Long story short, my co-worker at the time had these great stories from Red Bud as he and his wife always went. If this is solid, looking forward to a 2018 reunion at Red Bud!

You like all terrain vehicles?

I've got a brand new Bronco right out in the parking lot.

The Red Bud AMA National already has the best crowd of the bunch, so I can't even imagine what the atmosphere would/will be like with people traveling in from all over for the MXoN! Woohoo

I think one positive to a place like Red Bud over Glen Helen, for example, is the more rural location. I'm not so sure the locals would be thrilled on the wild bunch that is a MXoN crowd over a few days. Not to mention the weather is fantastic in September and the trees start to look pretty too.

Anyone hear Matthes say he has had multiple teams tell him they won't be racing the MXoN in the US next year if it's in October?

Hopefully they change their mind come next fall... Unsure
