What does my past have to do with any of this thread? It is easy enough to look up my past and find out who I am. Who are you exactly?
The guy had nothing to offer to this thread other than shit to talk

Mostly this has been a very positive thread much like any vet event out there those are pretty good people to hang with at the track.
There was a nwmx forum years ago that had popular track conditions and classifieds it was really kinda cool
I always try to say things to people on here as if they were standing in right in front of me. It's a concept that has basically died with this newer generation. And in this particular thread , there is nothing here that warrants anything negative. I don't so much mean you , as I know you were joking around. But it happens in all threads for some reason. I'd rather be well known and respected by many , then stay anonymous , be a prick and never meet anyone. But that's just me. I mean hell , this thread connected a bunch of local NW vet riders who want to go out have have some awesome ride days together.....and we still get some prick like ol' RowdyRalph in here mouthing off.
Me personally....I'm really looking forward to some of these ride days , so I can put a face with some of the guys on here I haven't ever met yet. Should be some great riding days for sure!
Starcrossed - You don't live in the NW and I doubt you even ride so why are you even in this thread stirring shit?.................
Just to add. I started racing because of the OTHG and OT clubs back in the late 80s in WA state. My dad was in his 30s and after a few year break from MX wanted to get back into racing and it was something we were able to do together because of the Mini support class they had. Both the OTHG and OT had their races at our local track (Horn Rapids).
They had 1 mini support class which was 80s with a few 60s and 1 big bike support class. The way the day was set up with the vets racing 3 motos Saturday (and 2 sunday) was that the support classes rode their practice in the first round of motos and then raced the second two (plus raced 2 motos sunday). I still remember the big bbq's and tons of product and contingency stuff piled up when they handed out awards. It was a great experience doing these events together. So I think it's important to include the kids in some way but not over complicate it with too many support classes or categories. It seems back then there were a lot of guys in their 30s and 40s with kids riding. I don't think there are nearly as many father/sons these days.
Now at 36 I did the OT National at Horn a couple years ago. It seems there is no more OTHG club in the Northwest and just the OT club. The race now seemed made up of all the 30/40 class guys I remember from the 1980s who are in their 50s and 60s now. They treated the 30 class as a support class and combined us with teenagers, which I realize the OT club is 40 and over but still thought over 30 should get their own race. There was no small bike support classes, as I think the guys are just older and don't have kids on mini bikes.
So I think the OT club does a good job with the older vet guys, but maybe what the NW is missing is a similar club that is designed around the younger Vets (say 25+ or 30+?). Maybe someone knows what happened with the original OTHG club? I remember they sent out newsletters and reports/results from their events back in the day. I assume the guys just got older and joined the OT club and the OTHG died out.
As for the jet- I didn't see it parked at Gorman, but I did wonder why you guys asked me to bring fresh palm fronds and grapes. After we got done riding/throwing our dirty gear away and were in your Semi-truck downloading the last session's telemetry while getting our feet rubbed, it all made sense.
If a vet club and web site is built correctly it could help many things. It could allow members to hook up and ride together and that is safer for everyone. Riding alone even at a track can be scary. I have seen guys crash and not have anyone there who knows him. The club could help provide contact information for each other and support fellow riders.
Most of all I enjoy the sport. If you have ever met me a track I am happy to help anyone I meet. The reason I am like that is other riders have helped me! I think of the moto community as one of the best groups of people in any sport. We are just trying to keep that attitude going with the club.
Note: that old thread Starcrossed mentioned was where a past failed track owner who met me one time in FL, come on bashing me badly. Saying that as a novice vet rider I have no right to give my opinion in this sport. He went on to say he only cares what the fast riders think of his track. He wrote a long bash of me because he claimed I have never worked a day in my life and so on. I pointed out I came from nothing, I joined the military and from that point I worked hard and became very successful. The track owner in question was very bitter about having to sell off his track, but none of that had anything to do with me.
If there ever was a group of guys in Washington saying they were the OTHG they were not a valid chapter and seems to be the reason they are no longer around.

I'd love to make it down to the california stuff next year since my girlfriends parents live not to far from glenhelen and her dad's and old motocrosser so any chance to see them is awesome
The OTHG has Central Valley, Sierra, Reno and Bay Chapters that normally "piggyback" on to a race/track promoters program and get motos along with the promoters race program. Though they occasionally will promote there own race.
The South/Parent Chapter promotes 95% of the races we do and have been doing so for the last 20 years. Can be a financial risk if you do not have the numbers but we/you control your own destiny. Helps also that we have 10 or more tracks we can race in SoCal.
Good Luck......

They work with the track owners every year, well in advance, to schedule OTHG only race events. They can draw so many riders for events that any owner would be foolish to not work with them. 300+ racers at a Sierra or Bay National isn't uncommon at the Oatfield, Hollister, or Hangtown. Track owner gets all the gate and camping fees, and more (I think some or all of race entry fees too) from that. There are very few race organisations that can draw this many from February to November, every 2 weeks. Even the smaller events are rarely less than 100 riders (support included) in my experience.
Vet racing can have a HUGE positive impact on a track owner's bottom line each year whether it be race weekends or private track days. A OTHG PNW chapter, run right, could do the same up here. Imagine 300 racers and their families at Washougal for a Friday practice, and dedicated motos Saturday and Sunday, prepped for Vets. I've done em at all the NorCal tracks and Glen Helen (maybe LACR this year!) and it is the best. IMHO, better than OTMX cause it's a younger crowd with more kids, and Support racing classes.

I can assure any of the clubs that we are not trying to be competition for anyone. We all very much enjoy the OT nationals. I attended meetings last year as well and I asked them if they wanted to consider putting on practice days and their answer was a very firm no. So we thought we would put on some ride days and also promote other clubs races.
Also here is a link to a PDF that can be shared or printed out to give to tracks or shops. If any members could post the club site on their facebook accounts that would help as well. Thank you

I'd think up here a OTHG PNW chapter would do Albany to Seattle with mostly OR and WA members. I'm sure a OTHG PNW National at Washougal would also draw Bay, Reno, and Sierra riders and maybe even a road warrior or 2 from Valley or Socal. That'd be a hell of a weekend for sure.
My personal limit was about 4-5 hours for a tow to a Sierra, Bay, or Valley track from Sacramento. I did one South event but it was a long haul and I'm not getting any younger. I usually had dogs, wife, and kids with so it was a lot of work. Plus I had to race and drink beer too.
