I liked the piece on MA. I’m gaining more respect for Mike each weekend. Give it to the kid, how many others would have came to A1 knowing the first part of the series would be whipping your self into race speed? Mike did look good for the first 4 or 5 laps, but come on Reed should have gained on Mike and put the move on him 2 or 3 laps before. Besides, to me at least one if not two laps in the short sections Mike slowed up for a moment but Speedy Reedy wasn’t close enough to seal the deal.

It was better viewing than of them showing RV half the heat race back in 6th place. If MA can learn to scrub he could have a show at the pointy end of the field instead of being the second mobile chicane.

ive raced a time or two, but ve never let someone by, I dont have teammates.
He would have been better off letting Reed by early instead of waiting for the freight train of riders to catch up.

I think the person in the tough position was Reed. He had to be really careful to make a clean pass because Mike was on his team, even if he was holding him up. Can you imagine the problems that would have been caused if he passed Alessi like Grant did, or they came together and Mike went down? There have been rumors of tension on the team already...that would have put it over the top.

It is good to see #800 up at the front. He is a talented kid and it makes the championship more interesting if there are more guys that can run at the front....

All kidding aside..... I definately don't have much racing experience as some of you folks, but from the limited experience i do have, when I was doing my best to let it hang out on those first few laps, I was not thinking about who I was going to let pass me because i knew they were faster than me. I was pretty much focusing on trying to crash and trying to catch up to the guy in front of me.

Maybe Alessi was think ing more about what he was doing at the time, and not about helping his swell team pal Reed. As far as that chummy Suzuki team, they could probably help improve that team spirit you are talking about if they would extend Mike's contract another year.

So in your stupid world racing would be this. Right now your lap times are decent and no one is showing you a tire but if someone that may be faster in a few laps is anywhere near you (esp???) than pull over and let them by.

He was keeping a bike length plus on him! If Chad had stuck a wheel in or made a couple of attempts at block passing I'd kind of understand your argument.

Maybe after the start the entire field of YZF and RMZ riders should pull off to the side in case Chad or Bubba are behind them.

Since all of you have raced on a SX track and know what it's like.................................

Wait, I almost forgot, none of you know what it's like and neither do I but it since it doesn't seem to matter in this thread I will throw something out there. It probably isn't like when you are racing with your buddies smokin' everybody at Chicken Licks Raceway and decide to pull over while going down the back straight to give the others a chance to lead for while. It doesn't really mess up your rhythm like it would at a SX track where there isn't a long back straight or if you did get out of the groove you won't be able to clear the next couple of triples and probably hurt yourself.

So, when you get one of those thoughts in your head that you want to share with everyone because you think you know what it's like to be a Pro racer, please just keep it to yourself.

Point well made.

I never thought about it that way. Alessi could have just decided to let Chad by, by slowing down and only doubleing instead of trippleing the next set of jumps.

I am sure RV would have understood the gesture, and gotten in line behind Mike to pass him properly later. No way he would have taken advantage of Mike being a good team player.
