Lotta bears. Bronwyn's mom up in Prince George got met by a big Ole bear when she went to take out thanksgiving (in October) dinner trash.
I'm just ouside of Toronto on the way to cottage country so we have quite a few bears around here. Mostly around the dump.

Plenty of bears in the wild areas. More blacks than grizzlies by far. Not too often that they venture into populated areas but it does happen. They really aren't an issue from a safety perspective and generally leave people alone other than mothers with cubs. Very rare to have any serious encounters.

Here is a pic I took last year at the Waterton Parks golf course. We had to wait for ten minutes or so for him to move on before we teed off. Lots of bears on the course, but they more or less ignore the people out there. You still have to be smart about it and give them a wide berth. He was probably around 400 to 500 lbs. The other pic is a timberwolf at my brothers place in the foothills.

Anytime my friend!

I was born in Ontario and then moved to the East Coast for 12 years and learned the way of life out there. It's more slow paced and relaxed. Moving back to Ontario was an eye opener. Full of assholes who want shit yesterday.

Would you move back to Alberta for example if you had the chance ? And if so why would you do it purely because of the attitude of people or just personal opinion. And why did you not do it what is holding you in Ontario

We have lots of bears, everywhere. If you're in the mountains out west anywhere, and near water, there are bears. Mountain lions, bobcats, lots and lots of deer, Elk and wild horses.
You name it. We are even getting the occasional wolf back.
We see coyotes all the time. I can't wait till we get some more wolves. Thanks to this guy gonna be a few more around.

I'm also from Ontario, I moved to Banff in 97' and have only been back home for weddings/Christmas, and only if their in cottage country.
Winter here in Calgary is great, took my 65 year old Ontario living Mother and he best friend to Lake Louise skiing on Monday actually...

Or you can head 2 hours North and East of Calgary and hit Drumheller for a little different scenery.

Nice. Check out that glacier hanging on the rock wall behind you. Would not want to be climbing under that if it let go....Nice pic BTW. Banff is my stomping grounds, I moved out here in 97' and would have a hard time leaving.

Western Alberta is awesome(We hit Lake Louise often), but I'm still partial to BC having relatives there and been to way more areas there.
I have craploads of friends in both provinces though, all good peeps. Most work in the oil or natural gas industries or something related.

Also, the mountain areas aren't really all that cold.
In fact last time I was in BC, it was far colder in California than BC because we were not but 30 miles inland from the coast and much lower elevation.

If all of California was like the Sierra Nevada range, it would be just like BC.

Love BC. Has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. From the wine making, desert like regions. to the mountains to the coastal areas. I grew up in a town called Peace River, which is about an 8 hour drive North of Calgary. Pretty darn beautiful too. Awesome dirtbiking as well.
