Didn't even bother to mention after seeing the National accident for the umpteenth time that he also broke tib/fib just prior to season.

Shaheen needs to go.

Yeah, me too... until I watched the race.

CR should've punted him... yeah, I know he's there to race and all, but he held up the points leader, and his TEAMMATE... guess he only considers people named Alessi on his team... lame...

just sayin

Are you even being serious. Mikey is a racer, and he isn't going to "Let Chad Bye" unless absolutely told to do so by a certain Man, and even then, ONLY when the championship is on the line....

If Chad was that much faster early on in the race he would have passed Mikey earlier. Good for #800.

Mike gets a lot of flack for his troubles in the whoops, but that guy needs to spend some time on bowl turns too.
2/1/2009 1:09pm
When Reed went bye ....everyone went bye.

That's why he was wise to race ahead. He never was closing Reed down. Reed slowed Mikey down.

And this post is in no way disrespecting Reed. Just the way it was.

No. Why do you think they are there to win? Everybody should just pull over when Reed doesn't get the holeshot. He's the defending CHAMPION and should be GIVEN the lead no matter what. He RACEd last year and beat everybody so this year he should not have to RACE to get to the front.

Oh yeah, if I had a rider "pull over" for ANY other rider he'd be fired before his bike stopped moving after the RACE.

Yes Alessi should have moved over for Reed. It was a one lined track that required hard passes. Everyone knows Alessi has no shot at the title, and he was basically blocking.

He is doing very well though from his injuries, its a good thing he's the "holeshot master'

Keep in mind, as with most riders contracts, they make more money when they finish closer to the front. So "letting teammates pass" may cost you money in the long run. So race as hard as you can as long as you can and finish as close to the front as you can. I am pretty sure thats the formula most riders are riding under.

It's obvious Mike is getting his speed back, but he still has a way to go with his endurance. For 25% of the race, he looked like we was capable of riding up at the front. I bet he ends up on the box before the end of the season.

It was good to see MA up front. He looked good for the first few laps. Its obvious that he is behind schedule on his fitness due to his injuries but he is looking better every week.
I just hope he makes through SX healthy because he will be a lot of fun to watch when the outdoors come around.

Yes, but there is no reason to hold a teammate up when its obvious you have nothing for him, other then slowing him down.

Dude, it's cool to see Mikey RACING... however, he's got no shot at the title, and when someone who does, on a shitty one lined track, on HIS TEAM, is behind, make some fuggin room... that's all i'm sayin. and to the guy who said CR was slowing MA down from behind? ROFLMAO!!

That depends on if you think the guy behind you is your teammate, or your competitor. It looked like to me, Mike thought the guy behind him was a competitor. Under AMA rules, that track has to be a minimum of 6 bars wide. If Chad really had something for James, he should have been able to get around Mike while on his way. Mike was not a lapper.

This not Formula 1. Mikes job is not to block the other riders so that Chad can move to the front of the line. The Suzuki camp is not really known for creating a happy "team" environment. The way their contracts are structured, if the riders want to make the moola, they need to get as close to the front as they can.

Sounds good on paper... but, everybody knows, there's only one guy that MIGHT have had a go at Stewart. He could've gave him some room. After Reed went by, so did everyone else... whatever, good job Mike.

MA represented himself very well in that piece, he has truly matured on and off the bike.
I was also impressed with his riding in those first few laps, Mike has never seemed to
be comfortable in Supercross, but he was putting down some pretty good laps. I think
that a podium this year would be pretty tough, but definately top 5 if he stays healthy and
continues his improvement. Good Luck to the "Holeshot Master"

reed had no chance anyway...mike or no mike, rv or no rv...he has nothing it seems for the steamroller called james stewart.

back to work and try harder this week...all you can do.

alessi looked pretty good for 4 laps or so. not sure why people bag on his sx skillz...they get better every week while many of the veterans are looking worse every week.

Unspoken rules of racing on a team are very important if you want to survive happily inside the team. I think that MA did the right thing to ride hard for as long as he did but it was also obvious that Reed was faster and would most likely last longer at that pace plus if he would have had a slight chance at catching Bubba.

If you have ever raced on a team you would know that there comes a time in many races where you have to give way to the better rider to save face and a position on the team in the future and this was one of those times. Remember, some day Mike may need someone to help him on the track and these guys have very long memories of past indiscretions..

Also, team Suzuki is great under the tent from my source and has never been a breeding ground for controversy until the Alessi's showed up. But after hearing mikes interview Sunday i can see that he is well aware of the problems they have created and is doing something about it. I say good for him, he's figuring it out a little at a time!

as for team suzuki it is well known they had nothing for a good 10 year stretch...that is controversy to me.

Mike had the 5th fastest lap, which was 0.171 seconds slower than Reeds fastest lap. I think Reed had issues passing because, well, he was only capable of going 0.171 seconds faster at the time.

And I am sure Reed would have gladly returned that favor some day in the future. And if you really believe that, you might want to see if you can borrow that bong from Michael Phelps and take another hit.

All kidding aside..... I definately don't have much racing experience as some of you folks, but from the limited experience i do have, when I was doing my best to let it hang out on those first few laps, I was not thinking about who I was going to let pass me because i knew they were faster than me. I was pretty much focusing on trying to crash and trying to catch up to the guy in front of me.

Maybe Alessi was think ing more about what he was doing at the time, and not about helping his swell team pal Reed. As far as that chummy Suzuki team, they could probably help improve that team spirit you are talking about if they would extend Mike's contract another year.

Mike has proved so far that it was a good decision for him to come out at A1 and race himself into shape. He's getting faster and lasting longer every week.

Mike's a racer, its always great to see guys show the effort.

AMEN! You guys are absolutely retarded and look for anything to point out that Mike may be doing wrong in your eyes...which is about anything. He did nothing wrong, was holding his line, running good lap times and wasn't blocking! You are morons!

I don't know about your controversy theory bob, many teams are having bad years or have had them but that does not mean they were making accusations or causing strife inside the semi. I think that many teams even when successful have had problems with riders and families (you remember a few in the old days..) so it has much more to do with personalities than winning all the marbles IMO.

The announcing team....... are what they are. They have contracts for the year and will be there every week.

Saying fire them is not going to happen...... but a little constructive criticism will get back to them and they might make some changes.
