This is what I was thinking too. I think Ken has Eli beat mentally. With Ken out for some time that could change things when he gets back though.

I think that was part of it.

I also think that it goes to show you the depth of the field is decent when musquin and Anderson finish 9th and 10th. Musquin had to have started around 10th.

Could be an interesting season if Dungey has 2 races around 7th or worse. I don't see Tomah beating Dungey more than Dungey beats Tomac, but we will have to wait to see.

Your thought isn't far off man. Found out yesterday from a good friend of his mechanics that roczen was in his head pretty bad.

Why was roczen in the head of the good friend of the mechanic? That just seems odd.

Eli was in Eli's head, that's what the problem was. Now he's in everyone else's head, like he's been many times before.

Sure, He was intimidated by Roczen who he has battled with for years, but Dungey, with his #1 plate and multiple championships doesn't phase him at all.

Tomac has owned Dungey on several occasions..Dung has consistency not raw speed

He's owned him? No offense or disrespect but that is an incredibly idiotic thing to think. To say it out loud puts you in that whole other kind of stupid class. You don't want to be a whole different kind of stupid do you? Because you don't have to be if you don't want to be, anybody can change.

I like Eli, but he gave the same interview after Monster cup as last night. He's got to stay up there to prove he's figured it out. Less technical track, more opportunity for others.

Eli does need to keep this confidence going. And confidence is such a big key in any sport, but to say he's winning now or doing good now, or Ken was in his head is dumb. Tomac, Reed, Dung and others have beat Ken straight up before. If they know they've beat him before they know they can do it again.

I believe theres an element of truth to this too.
You'll get flamed for saying so, but I do agree.

Remember how much riders like Windham (even Reed) had the ability to step up when RC or Stewie was out of the picture? They'd come alive. Could be fluke timing of course, but I think it does change the mental landscape out there.

If I may be so annoying as to bump this thread, it is a considerable theory. I know it's everywhere that he changed the bike, but the fact that he qualified first last week and proceeded to stank it up in the main was...funky.

So check it: You just know it bums Tomac out that Roczen, who he usually had beat on 250s, now has two 450 titles under his belt after moving up the same year. It probably bums him out even more that he went through Tomac many times to get the second one. And finally, Ken is two years younger than Eli. And owns a suit.

At the Cup race, after winning the second moto when Roczen DNFd, Mike Williamson goes, "See what happens when you put pressure on him?" Tomac nods, probably not really believing it, and Roczen comes back moto 3 and smokes everyone again. That was Tomac's last impression of Roczen before A1, and his last impression of Dungey was getting passed back by him with pretty good authority.

So just two weeks into the new series and it looks like Roczen's making good on his threats. Always up front, taking shots at the leaders whenever he wants, looking fast. Tomac’s back in 8th losing sight of 7th. But what's this? Week three, Kenny crashes out again, permanently this time, and suddenly Tomac is reminded that his closest peer in the sport is just that--a dude, not invincible, who's just as susceptible as he himself to switching teams and getting hot and cold results, just as susceptible to making a disastrous mistake when a minute ago it was so easy.

We don't know if it was the bike, the track, or his head. All we know is Eli got not one but two holeshots on Saturday and led them both wire to wire.

this sentence would've been enough.
