It's got to be multiple issues. If it were just one they would have it figured out and fixed. My guess is there is some mental trepidation from his crash, some physical issues with his injury and some not gelling with the Kawi. plus probably some things the public doesn't know about. Also, It probably wouldn't hurt for him to move away from home and establish himself independently.

Thinking behind the thread is because i had hoped Tomac would take it to Dungey.

My thoughts (bench racing from Aus):

Corner speed - mentioned already. Even in outdoors last year Tomac looked to be trying to smash the corners rather than flow. Could be many factors - bike, set up, technique, combinations.

Mental - Tomac is fast when he is happy and enjoying riding. (Or vise versa). Again so many factors - attitude, pressure, support, results, etc

Training - dont know about this one

Bike set up - could be the team has just gone in the wrong direction. Might need to go after Tomacs style strengths instead of making Tomac work with the bikes strengths.

Tomac and team will figure this thing out. He will find his way to the podium before the 1/2 way point of the series.

I think someone mentioned that he still lives at home, hes doing the same training hes always done, even mtb'ing over the exact same terrain....he needs CHANGE. But tomac has always been hot and cold. Win both motos dominating, then Get a 10th

Maybe Eli's forearms don't have enough "workout" anymore, hence they pump up easier than before?

Arm pump. He's not 21 anymore. He's a big dude. Big dudes don't do well at moto long term.

I would like to see him on another brand before I say whether or not he's as elite as we all thought or in some cases didn't think. The new Suzuki could be for him. Maybe the KTM or Husky. It's hard to say because he went to an all new Kawi and hasn't quite found his old self. Does anyone think he would go train with Baker if he does sign with KTM like some are suggesting he will do if Dungey retires? Maybe his dad is willing to collaborate with Aldon. If he won't train with anyone full time he should at least get someone who is fast to ride with and do some scrimmages. Honda is out of the question but I think a Husky, KTM or Suzuki is in the cards if he wants a change.
What new Suzuki? Are they finally stepping up to the plate for 2018?
They stepped up last year bro, in the outdoors.

Tomac IMO has never been that great at supercross. A outdoor specialist we would say. No 450 sx wins in three years tells the story, "Whats up with Tomac?". And everyone harps on about the Suzuki been old, gee the Kawi looks the same machine as it did in 08. So a combination of old slug of a bike and a motocross specialist doesn't make for a Supercross Champion Contender. Just my opinion.

No 450 SX wins in the last 3 years??? He had 3 in 2015 and 1 in 16. He also has quite a few SX wins on the 250.

struggling with bike setup. they have it dailed for mx (hense daytona win) or it suits better for mx, but no good settings for sx.

look at roczen last year, those 1-sec needed per lap is easily found in being comfortable on the bike and Tomac is not comfortable for 20 min. maybe to stiff setup that eats him up during heat. great for shorter timed practise and heat race but not mains.

tomac would have had holeshot if not for webb putting him of the track in first corner.

Anyone else notice that once the regular season ended and the GP's started last year, and Roczen was out of the picture, he all of a sudden picked it up? I'm leaning towards it being %80 mental and %20 bike. Tomac has always had freak speed, but is wasn't consistent. I think once Roczen stepped it up, ET has struggled to find that little extra with the bike to give him that added confidence. Kinda the same thing as Dungey during the RV days.
