I saw him at the US open a few years ago. He came up to me and said Hi... I would never have recognized him. I can't remeber what he was up to though.............Seemed like the same crazy Nicky.. His family used to run and or own the adelanto track.......

That picture of Scott Burnworth on the 18 Yamaha was from 86.He should be Honored at Anaheim 2 Retro day because after Rick Johnson took him out in the first corner Scott waited for him and held him up letting Bailey catch up.That turned into one of the greatest Supercrosses ever. Thanks Scott...

yea he did. I think that KTM ride ruined him.
What about Troy Blake Dominated 80x class for two years then dominate INTs and local pros then ridews for factory Yamaha for one year then gone.
Troy Blake was incredible on minis, and had the good life set up with Factory Yamaha. But he was also very close with Ronnie Lechein, so you can imagine how well that went for Troy. He got his head going in the wrong direction, 1984 was the last year he raced as a pro (on Kawasaki's he bought himself). In about 1989 he bought an RM250 but never did make a comeback.

He was a good guy, just got mixed up with the wrong group.

A couple others I did not see listed were Bobby Moore, and local AZ boys Bryan Bruner and Robert "Fig" Naughton.
Naughton finished 2nd overall in the 1987 125 west SX series (Chicken won it that year), he quit in 1989 to go to college. He later became a Champion Downhill Mountain bike racer, raced the WORCS series for years, and now is dominating the off-road series in the lites truck class (he won the championship last year). He was also an amazing snowboarder, jet-ski'er, BMX'er, and rental car madman. He was just a natural at everything he tried.

Butch Smith (Snowman) was from Idaho. He raced the Pacific Northwest tracks. His dad was crazy, no question. And yes, he could absolutely fly on a 60 and an 80.

I was on the line at Mabton, Washington and Larry Ward, and others were there. Right next to me was Butch Smith on an 80. He was tiny and had to use 1 x 1 blocks of wood to hold his Kawi 80 up at the gate. It was one of his first 80 races (maybe even his very first), and his dad looks at my dad and says, "so what do you think about this (refering to Snowman jumping on an 80 to race that daywhen he was so young and little)?" My dad just shook his head and said, "you don't want to know." He was so small he couldn't pick the bike up and start it if he fell...no chance.

He went on to race 80's and did well, even moved to Cali from what I understand and yes, got 92 Rookie of the Year, but then seemed to fall off the face of the earth after about 93-94. Anybody have any idea where he is at these days or what ever became of him?
Curious!

Coaching his son, Christian Craig, who is rumored to sign with YOT.

I will never forget when M Craig won Ana in 1990 after breaking his back. Awesome comeback... I've always been a fan.

I bought a 1995 CR125 "Honda of Troy" that Michael Craig, raced...it was the fastest 125, I have ever ridden to date.

Yeah i rode with bader and tyson volland a couple times at a track in the hills in sorrento valley. marty smith would come out there too. bader and tyson were factory pros with kawasaki at the time, around 1987, i couldnt keep up with them, they hauled ass. the track was in san diego, right where the 805 north and the 5 north merge, you could see it on the side of the hill, youd have to park on the other side of the freeway and ride through a long sewage tunnel to get out to the track. Smith would bring his school out there and let us ride along with them. I took them all out my local track in the hills by my house about 4 miles ride from there. they all came. I remember seeing Smith for the first time out there, i was ontop of a hill, a hill which was a knarly thing just to be able to make it to the top. several people couldnt do it, too steep, almost vertical at the last 30 feet...well i was riding around the area where that hill is and saw this guy on a kawasaki jump about 30 ft in the air coming off the top of that huge hill climp. # 31a on a kx250. smith !

Wow, you just brought back a flood of old memories mentioning that track! Before they extended Mira Mesa Blvd all the way to Sorrento Valley, my friends and I used to be able to ride out there from my house. I'm thinking it was around '83 or '84.

I was out there in late 85 through late 87 and there abouts. we extended parts of the track since there was so much area, smith made some new trails too.. there was a pretty good sized 'road jump', not sure if it was there when u were out there, but youd come out of this valley and jump the fireroad, clearing the steep cut little cliff on the other side. it wasnt that hard but many guys would puss out at the last second and eat shit. also noobs that would ride out there didnt know about the creekbed that was covered with foilage, and if you didnt know, youd ride right into a big ditch, which would break off the front fender on who ever rode into it. so there were many times we'd ride out there and see guys with half of a front fender and know exactly what happened.

and shouldnt the OP be called 'former mini morons'?
