Anybody have opinions on these bikes ? Thinking of restoring one in the next couple of months.

I did an 87 so I'm all for it. Im not a huge fan of the blood red but always happy to see another bike get restored that otherwise would go to the scraper.

Yes I really want a 87 also. But have only found a 88 so far.

Easy enough to make that 88 look like an 87 if you are going to strip it down anyway. Mechanically almost identical, 88 powerband was a hair more linear. I did up an 88 as an 87 a couple years ago, then it got stolen from me just a couple months before we left Hawaii. I did a video of the restoration on YouTube, it's easy to find. I'm still mad about that thing getting stolen....Aloha my ass....

The bike can still get around a track respectably, btw. Great forks, soft by modern standards but still good.

I have a tank that is in good shape for use on a runner / racer. All of the bolt holes are still good, none have spun.

I bought and raced a brand new 1988 Honda CR-250. I loved that bike, it was very fast after a lot of modifications I did as I worked at a Honda dealer. You have a very nice 88 Honda CR-250, that is a keeper. Thanks for bringing back a lot of memories.

The atac motor was a good one. I would look around for one of the atac spacers they used to sell for these bikes, really helped them come on the pipe. Boyeson reeds dual stage helped also , but today , I would think rad valve or v force would be the way to go. I have been looking for the atac spacer kit, but forget who used to make them. If anyone knows please post It should be in all the moto mags from back then.
