Channel 9 obtained a domestic violence protective order that Scott's wife took out on him last year.
The order, filed in Gaston County, said that Scott hit his child in the head with his fist, kicked his wife and threatened to kill them with his gun.
It also claimed that Scott told his family that "he's a killer and they should know that."
It went on to say that Scott has a 9 mm handgun that he did not have a permit for it and that he is a convicted felon.
The order was dismissed a month later when Scott's wife said he was no longer a threat to the family.
Documents show he served seven years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a one-year, three-month sentence for evading arrests. Records show that both incidents happened in 2002, but his sentence didn’t start until 2005.
they also go on to say
Those who knew Scott said he was a gentleman and a devoted father. They said his life was forever changed last November when he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle crash in Charleston, South Carolina. so he was a changed man for at least around the last year. maybe his TBI healed up, or maybe his lawsuit/disability was pending
We can try and justify the killing by bringing up his past. But the fact of the matter is if we have to justify it with defamation and previous issues maybe there's a deeper problem. It's the officers job to arrest and bring the defendant before a court and their peers to decide. We don't need officers being judge, jury and executioner on the streets.
I get it being a cop is a hard job. I'm grateful and glad there are men and women who do it. That said, they work for the citizens and must be held accountable for their actions when they violate civil liberties.

The Dallas recruiters said they cancelled the last 3 classes I think it was,no body showed up. Said they used to get a thousand for a hundred openings.
I don't think the media went out of their way to defame the guy. Nor did the police who I am sure knew all about the guy within minutes of the shooting, or perhaps before.
It seems that they were pushing the gentleman and devoted father thing
They told the guy something like 12 times to drop the gun. Is it possible the guy never had a gun? Sure anything is possible. Did he have a gun he refused to drop?, All indications point to this.
Great strategy, without guns people like this couldn't have multiple arrests prohibiting them from owning the firearm that police are supposed to shoot out of their hands, we can chip away at 2a & at same time create stepping stone federal guidelines for local law enforcement.
afterwards, DOJ will give green light to the people's national police force to quash any & all insurrection.
During the 12 days following the July 7 shooting, the department said it got 467 job applications, a 344 percent increase compared with the 136 in a similar period in June.
That is an average of 38.9 requests per day to become a police recruit compared with an average of 11.3 submissions a day for 12 days in June. In recent months, the police department has had to cancel academy classes because there were not enough applicants.
Potential officers in the north Texas region have often opted for departments in fast-growing cities surrounding Dallas where starting pay is typically higher than in Dallas.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown put out the call for new recruits at a news conference last week where he spoke of the deaths of five officers and the actions of others to save lives at a rally in the city in the incident that marked the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. “We are hiring. Get out of that protest line and put an application in,” Brown said.
U.S. police forces have been the target of protests following the fatal shootings of black men by patrolmen in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and outside St. Paul, Minnesota, that were caught on video.
Further, the series of high-profile police killings of black men in the past two years have sparked the most intense debate on race and justice in America in years.
“It’s a shame it took a tragedy to get people to apply, but glad to see so many people willing to serve their community,” Dallas resident Ben Shaw wrote on the department’s Facebook page on Friday.
Police work is changing, California of course will prob set the tone.
Yep put someone in the position of performing a job, a difficult one, and the moment someone complains, or the job isn't being done to someones satisfaction, they look to make you the fall guy. Sure sign me up...

From the video it looks like he was walking backwards towards the cop that shot him with both arms at his side.
I find it interesting that nobody questions why the 3 or 4 other cops that were there didn't feel he was enough threat to fire their weapons. Especially the two cops that he was actually facing and were most in danger. It's odd that the cop least likely to feel threatened in that scenario was the one that pulled the trigger.
Pit Row
No, they should take you to Chuck E Cheese's and get you some fucking pizza.
Again... Why did none of the other officers fire their weapons? If you were in a room with 5 people and 4 of them all agreed on one course of action to take then the remaining person is more than likely wrong. If he was such a threat then at least 2-3 of those officers should've lit his ass up.
If I tell you to drop the gun,and you don't do it?, I ain't asking no 12 times.
edited yep i saw the video, kind of agree with hillbilly suicide by cop
By an officer, though......

Says who ? How many precincts give these guys regular range days with ammunition? How many cops make enough money to highly train themselves by shooting ?
All I'm saying is I know two cops that can't shoot for shit. So how do we know cops are highly trained ?! The high trained guys are the Hobby shooters that can afford to put thousands of rounds down range. You don't "rememeber" your training. It should be reflexive when you're trained well. And we'll training is thousands upon thousands of rounds. Not shooting paper. But shooting off balance and out of your comfort zone.
So how do we know they're highly trained again? And if 4 are highly trained why is 1 not highly trained ? I'm not following the logic here....?
Interesting video for a bit of perspective.

Endless u-tube video's giving these guys a hard time, for entertainment . I get it nobody wants to live in a police state, but they should get summons for busting police chops after a few of these/obstructing police etc.
Make sense?
If you know 2 officers who "can't shoot for shit" why not report them? I would imagine the city/county they work for would like to know and my guess is they would end up getting the training they need. On second thought if I needed training to do my job properly I would gladly pay for it myself to keep my job. I go to a lot of training that isn't company paid to better myself every year.
