small buckle or big? Have you done other hundreds you could compare it too?
I keep getting tempted by the lottery, but the High Cascades 100 is a ton of singletrack, not an out and back course, and pretty local. So far I keep doing that instead.

ACBraap, I live in Oklahoma which is flat as a pancake compared to Colorado. None of the other 100s I've done around these parts compare to Colorado. Most mountain bike events around here are 6hr endurance races.
I checked out the High Cascades 100 and if you can do that then I think you could do Leadville. I would just recommend going out in advance to pre-ride so you'll know what each of the climbs are like. The way the course is, it's easy to get to each section for pre-riding.
The photo in the buckle is a sub 12 hour. Within the five months before the race I had a pretty big surgery that set my training back 10-12 weeks and was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia 20 days before the race when my lab work came back. Based on the labs, I was losing around 35-40% of oxygen transportation. On the starting line I seriously had no idea if I would last the whole race or just a few hours. My last training ride before going to the doctor only lasted two hours before having someone come pick me up. Then I stayed off the bike the month leading up to the race. Funny part was it never even crossed my mind to defer my registration for next year until about a week after the race lol. I'll be shooting for a sub 9 next time. Sorry for the novel.
