Great build, looks good and sounds good too.Keep the up dates coming.
Did not recognize the name till I seen the face. Do you still race RC? If so what brand or team?I live about 6 miles from the Lake Park track in Lutz FL. Im sure you have raced there a few times.

Rode it a little, but still having some small issues.

I put a little too much oil, so it was coming out the overflow a little, noticed it was grey, water in it. It was still very thin, so possibly just a few drops. I'm hoping that's it's just the water pump weep hole or something.

I bought templates for the bike and designed my own backgrounds and front fender decals. Has a friend that makes stickers for RC cars. Bike is looking LEGIT now.

Been able to get more rides on the bike now. The oil issue is all gone, seemed like maybe a gasket didn't seat right the first short ride, and a drop of water got into the oil, now after getting it nice and hot, the gasket must have sealed. Changed the oil a few times and it's perfect now. Bike is actually running AMAZING!!!

Very very nice build Jared. I am almost done collecting parts for a build myself. Took a bit longer than anticipated as first bike I bought as base turned out to be a total disaster. Sold it dirtcheap as a partbike and bought a better basebike. Like the modern twist to your bike. Cheers

Sick build Jared. How does this compare to your 02 back to back?

Thanks man, yeah I'm super happy with it now. I was frustrated for a bit with the engine drama, but now that's it is all done and rideable, I'm really enjoying it!

Thanks! I actually rode it back to back on the same track last week. The track was pretty tight and nothing too big. The 95 actually rode really well, the cockpit is tighter, but I kinda like that feel. I still have the CR High bars, not a huge fan of the sweep with those, so I think the feeling will be better after I put on different bars. The brakes are LEGIT, I rode a 2017 KTM 350 on the same track as well, was not dissapointed with my brakes at all!!! Suspension feeling good too, like I said, I haven't go to hit any really big jumps yet, but on the smaller stuff, it felt good. I was comfortable to seat bounce a few things and it handled braking bumps and acceleration bumps good. Engine is the biggest difference to my 2002, the 95 RIPS!!!! It is noticably faster than my 2002, but I'm not loving the powerband right now. The bike has a funky bend PC pipe, not the normal bend sold, so I'm thinking it is an outdoor pipe. It kinda bogs on bottom and then just pulls wheelies mid to top end, super fast. I would love to ride it on a bigger track.

My 95 had a 125 Power band like yours, not much down low then hold on through mid range to top and front end comes up easy. Nice looking bike, I did an Mc build on my 95 and it turned out well, great handling year.

Nice looking bike. Wasn't the 95 the year Honda went a little backwards on their 250? Bad forks, bad cranks, and a motor that lacked bottom end? Thought I recall guys were actually putting a smaller rear sprocket on, to stretch the power out. Abrupt, and short winded.

Beautiful work man! What processes are you using to restore/clean the various metals on the engine/chassis of the bike? I know you said you ground the casting off, but mind sharing what kind of abrasives and/or polishes you're using on the different parts to give them that "like new" look?? Thanks in advance!

Nothing really special. I use scotch brite and a scratch pad to clean most aluminum parts. Engine and brake calipers I used wire brush and wire wheel to clean up. For the clamps and kick starter I used a dremel with a sanding wheel to take off the casting lines. Then followed with sandpaper and scratch pad.

Good call... What any idea what grit the dremel bit was, or what grit sandpaper you followed that up with?? Wet or dry sand?

Great looking bike! I rebuilt a 1996 CR250R last year and have been riding it at the SoCal tracks for about 6 months now. I love to see others re-building these 90's 2T 250's. I also LOVE that front fender and number plate. I hate how dated my front fender looks. Totally ages the bike. The rest looks pretty modern. I lucked into my '96 and never plan on selling it, ever. As you mentioned the mid-90's 250 motors were BEASTLY, more powerful/explosive than the last gen motors. I had a '99 KX250 before this thing and it was night and day. The KX had good low to mid, almost like a 4T, but the Honda tries to pull my arms out the moment the pipe kicks in, kind of like a turbo car. Not much down low though. Still playing with gearing to tame the beast. Again, really pretty build. I thought about going with DC forks from an early 2000's CR but go back and forth.

I'll get it outside and take some more pics of it when it warms up some. I have some more plans for it also in the coming months, nothing too much, just some some nice details I want to add.

Added a couple goodies to the 95 last weekend and got to go ride it Sunday.

Pro Circuit bar mounts to fit on Twin Wall 999. I had CR High on and I did not like the feel at all. The cockpit always felt tight, I put the mounts on with the bars moved forward. Also added a Motion Pro throttle and hydraulic clutch.

Wow!!!! The whole feeling of the bike was different. The cockpit felt much more modern and more comfortable for me. This was also the first time riding this bike on a rough track. Still need to get suspension dialed in. Have 100 sag, gonna try 103 next time and need to slow down my rebound. After getting both my 2002 cr250 and 2006 cr125 suspension setup, the rebound is much stiffer. I think the 95 will be really good after a few changes.

I was actually going really good on this thing, really enjoying passing guys on a 22 year old bike. This thing is the fastest 250 2-stroke I've ever ridden, it was straight ripping!

Have you ridden a newer ktm/husky two stroke? I went from an 02 cr250 to a 16 Husky tc250 and the power difference was unbelievable

Yeah I rode a 2012 YZ250 and a 2015 TC250. I really like the power delivery on my 2002 CR250, but DANG this 1995 is FAST. Now I'm gonna have to get a little motor work done to my 2002!

Some before and after of those 2000 CR Pro Circuit clamps I bought from a Vital Member last year. They needed major TLC, and Justin and MotoWhips did an amazing job! Can't wait to get these babies on.

Looks like you have her running good, but you lost me when you put the modern front fender and plate on the classic.

You could put your 95 engine in your 02 frame!. It makes a great bike. Real fast with the gen 3 handling. My favorite bike.
