Biggest question is how will this stuff hold up on boot rub. The hard anode penetrates the aluminum and it runs but still holds a color. I'm curious to see an outter clutch cover and ignition cover that has been ridden on.

Sending my parts out this after noon to Clayton at trick. Real good to deal with over the phone and has the same passion as we all do. I feel confident my parts are going to the right place. Here is a before and I'll post the afters once I get them back.

heres pics of some of the stuff i had Hard anodised. I turned the hubs down on a lathe, don't listen to any of that crap about turning them down weakens them. TCR used to turn down and anodise the hubs for Rockstar Suzuki back when dungy was riding for them. TCR has done crush tests and there is no difference. If anything turning hubs down will make them stronger because you are eliminating fracture points along the casting lines.

Ive seen Talon and Haan hubs blown apart and they are the most heavy duty hubs I've ever seen. There is one common denominator between all the broken hubs I've seen, they all had either the sprocket or disc bolts come loose or the spokes were seized wich meant the owner couldn't tension the spokes properly And they were all rear hubs. Believe it or not the sprocket and disc contribute to the hubs strength. If they are loose then you have lost all the strength they offered through bracing the outer radius.

G'day, am in the middle of doing a Yz450f build and am wanting to have some coating done and have come across a guy here in Adelaide that does cerakote coatings. He has said that he can do my fork tubes and hubs and was wondering if anyone has done this kind of coating before?
How does it hold up?
Any information about it would be aweseom! cheerrs

It may have been noted previously but where did you get the blue anodizing done?

What's your guys experience with durability with these coatings? Does it rub off?

Gonna try it out as soon as I get mine I'll put some feed back. My understanding is it's not as good as hard anodizing. I'm suspecting the ign and clutch cover will wear some but I'm thinking the inner case and waterpump cover will be fine.

It will, and can wear in moto from roost or rubbing from boots or dragging through deep ruts over time. Just depends what bike, and part etc... Inner cases aren't as vulnerable, or a valve cover, and surprisingly the hubs do really well. For example the old yz's with the big radius clutch covers wear bad from the oem. So any coating other than anodizing it is going to wear again. But the KX two strokes had more clearance from the boot and didn't wear nearly like the yz. Nothing will last as good as type 3 anodizing.

Should be noted that cerakote comes with a much cleaner finished on cast aluminum then anodizing does.

Anodizing on billit aluminum is really clean. The finish on cast can very depending on amount of cleaning and polishing you do. But will never be as nice a finish as billit.

Absolutely correct. Which is why most people don't anodize much cast parts. And you have to take into consideration on critical machined tolerances with type 3 anodizing it adds about .002 thousandths or greater to the parts.

What colors have you been using? I assume you can use just about any coating finish in their catalog if a customer requests.

What color is this hub?

Yeah i've never really heard much about it at all, but have seen that DUBYA wheels in the US use cerakote to do their hubs and they do a really cool magnesium/ bronze colour that i like, and the fella that does in here in SA says that he'll be able to get it pretty close to that same colour on my hubs and fork tubes.

He quoted me $120 for the pair of fork tubes and $40 per hub
What do you guys reckon?

Name and address please I've got some hubs I'd like to get done

Clayton from Trickeng sent me a pic of my covers today. I must say they came out better than I expected. The texture of the aluminum is still there. Great guy to work with and prompt. I'm betting they look even better in person. This is burnt bronze.

Yea he did a really good job on my covers as well. Also super finished my transmission.

I am really pumped on these covers. Honestly they are so much better looking in person which is hard to say as they just look great in ohotos. The phot does not do the color justice. I didn't have all the bearings and stuff so I just put the covers on the bike and see how good the stuff is. Service was excellent and I look forward to do some more stuff with Clayton at trick.

Can you and CrGuy2T post an update in this thread in regards to durability on the clutch and ignition covers? How are they holding up?
