Go ride a motorcycle because you have the godddamn opportunity to when so many people don't, and possibly never will.

If your speed doesn't qualify you for a main these days, get a different job where you can find some financial success, or at least be able to support yourself, just like any other human being.

In the 90's and 2000's moto was for those guys who were a little bit crazy in the head and it was marketed as such. Even though the biggest sponsors are energy drinks I feel there is more of a professional, clean cut look to moto now
Also social media means people get away with less. Look at the pc and hooters deal, if it weren't for social media no-one would have ever found out

See, this is exactly where you are 100℅ wrong and sound like a diva. Professional sports are NOT about having fun for the athlete. Large companies such as red bull don't sponsor a sport because it's supposed to be "fun." They sponsor it to make money. Professional athletes in any sport don't become professional athletes because it's "fun." They become professionals because they can make a lot of money and bang beautiful women (or men, if you're into that sorta thing.) If you want to raise an issue, raise the issue that the athletes from 7th to 40th don't make enough coin. Not that they're not having "fun."

I think it all comes down to money. Moto was cheaper back then and easier to be on a competitive bike compared to now. It all depends how you take it. I still have fun and enjoy watching the races. To me motocross is biggest Motorsport where pro riders and fans get to relate. You don't see nascar drivers that have fans that drive and race nascars. If you are against the 4 stroke so much then you have the choice of getting a 2 stroke and riding it

A good rider can top ten on a stock 450 with a pipe and suspension. Ala short right after his team folded up a few years ago. In the 450 class it's easier than ever to field a competitive bike. 60 HP stock. Used to be only the factory teams had the big HP.

In the 450 class it's never been about who has the most horsepower. It is who has the best power, the most tractable power. Stewart won a lot of SX races with only a 52 to 53 hp Kawi motor but they had more on tap if needed. It wasn't.

Factory KTM and Honda aren't at a horsepower disadvantage at the MXoN because of fuel and sound. I was told first hand by both Gothic Jay and Ian Harrison their National configurations are not set for max power. The teams get to Europe and turn the dial to eleven and it's all good.

Will never forget Magoo at Unadilla Trans Am circa 79 on a Maico running in the top five in the Open class with the motor sounding like he was on a trail ride. Ditto for JMB winning all three motos at the three moto GH USGP in cruise mode. Those MX legends rarely hit redline and instead were working the mid range of those big bore two strokes.

No replacement for displacement

Some of these younger guys tear it up on the track , but they tear it up off the track as well. Sure , they train their ass off , but a lot of them have fun behind the scenes in which we don't get to see.

MC , Emig and that era....it was cool to let everyone know you were partying like a rock star ( and they were ).....today's youth seem to be a little more tame , but also more quite about it.

This sport is awesome.....and to me , it's the best sport on this planet. Guys that want to come in and change thing dramatically.....go find another sport. This one changes with time , just like any other.

I do however miss the vibe from the 80's , 90's and even 2000's.....but I was younger then and could rationalize with it better. Today.....yeah , we could use some changes....But ya know what?.....Still the best sport on earth!

It's expensive bro. If your a good rider and want to compete you need that big 4 stroke. Not too mention entries being higher then ever. My little girl is racing this weekend and will cost 70 dollars both days for 1 class. $35 a day (pretty sure) stuff ain't cheap

And that's not including gas to get there, food, gas for the bike, parts, wear and tear, gate admission fee, etc etc etc. It's crazy. But it's the world we live in I suppose. I don't race much anymore but back when I was doing it every weekend (mid 90s to 2012) it was expensive too.
