The shale uphill after the ski jump at Honda Hills in early 70s
That short section at GH 2015 National. Damn that was gnarly

The first thing that popped into my mind... Something that you'd expect of an ISDE qualifier more than an outdoor... Tomac was magic in that section, often using the bumps to jump over the top straight into the next right hander, but it also claimed many victims.

For as steep and gnarly as that hill was, the bottom picture is tilted to the left a bit. If it's not, then the guy in the jeans is about to head to the bottom of the hill on his face.

I never got to go to a race there, but Suicide Mountain always had the nastiest reputation when I was a kid.

Glen Helen this year was pretty gnarly. The lip near the top had guys swapping and out of control Hillclimber style.

The uphill at Honey Lake was pretty good. Long and rough and got fairly steep.

Also the super steep but short section of uphill on the Hollister Hills track when they run the old school GP section. It's short but straight up and down.

Old school GH had some brutal uphills to. Mammoths isn't too bad.

That's funny, I remember that hill seeming huge when I was a little kid, but when I went back there a few months ago I realized it really wasn't anything at all!Grinning

Hawkstone is long and tough, Namur's climb back up to the citadel is iconic, Foxhills has some nasty climbs but the down hills are scariest there, Asham woods at Frome in Somerset has some big climbs and I have ridden some tracks in Wales, Talesarn (sp) being one and also a track in France called St Briuc that has some steep climbs.
I will look for some photos....

Foxhills (I know this is a down hill but the up hills are just as steep, this image shows how it's like jumping up and down a cliff!!!)

I was there that day as well,,, and definitely Knarly, I spent the whole Moto standing there watching for Tomac to come around every lap

Nothing scarier than jumping off those downhills, like free falling, the G-out at the bottom was awesome though. The uphill stepup is fun as well, not often you get to hit a jump tapped on a 450.

Starting at 26.30, you can enjoy Stefan Everts' mud riding clinic (before the race was red flagged).

I raced Cycle Arroyo or whatever GH was called before it was a CMC race with the track on the REM side.

After Glen Helen opened I remember the one really steep drop off circa 1990 above where Talledega is now if memory serves correct.

Mammoth uphill isn't too bad unless you have a flat front tire and there are five laps to go. I got a flat at the top of the start and went from 2nd to 12th but salvaged 5th for the weekend circa 1998. I got over the arm pump day before yesterday.

Over the years I would catch my breath on the tree turn then pull the trigger for another run up the mountain. Great memories.

I remember it back in the late 80's when it was a lot steeper.

Wasn't it called the "Elevator Shaft" back then?

Isn't this section at Unadilla also known as ":The Wall" ?

I think the Elevator Shaft was the finish line jump at Gainesville wasn't it ?

Maybe so

I know back then it looked like a cliff straight down, 180 turn at the bottom (W/Tiny Berm), and then back up a damn near vertical wall. As a mid back 125B rider I was amazed how the Pro's didn't even flinch lap after lap like it was nothing. I would never even have attempted it.
