Just came across a good deal on a stock low hour 15YZ450 that I'd have to move on tomorrow ... I've never ridden one, would I notice a substantial improvement over my stock revalved 08Crf450?

I prefer my '08 to the '14-'16 yz's I've ridden.

Loved my 07 & 08 crf 450"s. Kept the 08 until I bought a new 2011 crf 450, used to ride them back to back, the 08 was faster & handled better. I have ridden 10-14 Yzf450"s, you will like the suspension & the throttle response over your Honda, the Yzf engines are stronger than your 08. You will not like the turning or width of the yzf compared to your 08. If I was not able to get my Ktm FE this year I would have bought the YZf, supposed to be very reliable also. Post a photo when you buy it!

Do it! Get yourself a cycra powerflow plastics kit. The shrouds are more narrow - they make a big difference.

I had an 04, 05 and 07 CRF.

I refurbished a CR125 and CR250 for the fun factor.

I rode my brothers 2014 YZ450f and hated it.

I rode his 2016 and bought my own 2 days later!!!!

What did you like better about the 16 over the 14?

If you like weird handling and awkward ergonomics then it's a great improvement .I didn't like the new Yamaha 450 at all. I own a 2008 crf I can't part with because it's just good everywhere. But I did purchase a new ktm.. It feels a lot like a Honda.

The steer-in on the 14 was unpredictable. The 16 with the 25mm offset is a bit more likely to push, but the overall stability and predictability was well worth it. It's by far the most stable bike in rollers (I ride a lot of sand here in MI). They changed the motor mounts, the frame ridgitiy near the pilot and a couple other little things for 16 and it really made a difference for me.

I haven't been on a modern four-stroke since 2010, but I feel that this Yamaha chassis is the most responsive package I've ever ridden with sag and fork height adjustments. With 2mm of sag you can go from a bike that will push to one that you can steer exclusively with the front. It just takes some tinkering, and the rewards are to me, the easiest to feel right away.

Put that on top of the weird but awesome air filter placement and ease of service/power washing... I'm super happy with the decision.

I'm in a similar situation. I currently have two 06 CRF450s. I was using one as a practice bike and one as a race bike. They both have B kit suspension (one Factory Connection, one true Showa B kit) but things have changed at work and I don't have much time to ride anymore. I love the bikes but I definitely don't need two so I have been thinking about selling both and picking up a new YZ250F. I have only heard good things from the people who have one and wonder if it would be easier to ride. Any opinions would be appreciated.

No brainer, upgrade to the new bike, they are amazing. I had a 07 crf450 with yosh pipe, great bike. But my newer bikes are way better IMO. 13 rmz450,15 crf450, building a 2016 fe ktm 450 as we speak,my rmz,crf are loaded, set up, far from stock though.

I upgraded from an '06 CRF450 to a '16 YZ450F. The engine is supreme, you can lug it or rev it, it just goes. Getting the suspension dialed takes some effort, but it's easy and works great when done. Sag makes all the difference! I changed to MX32's and Pro Taper bars. Tires made a huge improvement for the tracks that I ride.

Anyone thinking about a new YZ, just do it.

My buddies 16 yz450f is currently in the shop for a cracked frame, like tons of other ones. I'd stay clear.

Cracked Yamaha frames are not a rarity....with that said my son loves his yz250f but I have seen enough on the Internet and one in my own garage ,so I would not dismiss the frame issue.

The 08 Honda 450 is widely considered one of the best all around bikes to date. Plus, no EFI makes trouble shooting a problem much easier.
