Have anyone here tried the WP CV cartridge? The price of the cartridge is "only" 1600€ compared to 2800€ for the full fork.

Using the old larger axel is not a problem, just change the wheel spacers and fork guards. It does extend the offset +2mm. If you were really picky you could get 20mm clamps and it would be back to normal. I had an older set of cone valves on my bike and didn't feel a difference.

The argument with the cone valve cartridge is that you don't have the fork coatings to go with it.
That can also be right direction to go other than SX tracks. They went more offset on Yamaha 450f 2016 and made it working better.. would be nice to hear if anyone got time to test more offset on same bike?

Yes, the 14 FE450 top clamp drops right on the 16s. Last yr after a cpl very low speed crashes and each time getting up to my bars twisted (quite annoying) I was trying figure out a better set up. This is the cheapest way for me because I really didn't feel like buying new set of triple clamps and I had 2 sets of PHDS mounts leftover from my 2 strokes. I was a little bummed that the older FE's orange anodizing didn't match the new FE's but whatever. I have a much better set up now with more adjustability too.
so tucked the front end on the start at budds yesterday. Handlebars and mounts are bent at the least. Should I get the PHDS set up and replace the top triple clamp or spring for the Neken set up and get the adjustability there

I just put the whole X-Trig set up on my bike and really happy with them. They are available in orange now also.

I lined up next to a reputable, local suspension guy this weekend and he noticed the forks on my FE were raised the 12mm that people have been recommending. He mentioned that they've been testing with lowering the forks back down and running lower psi, like 130 and below, then cranking the comp in. He said it helps with balancing out the bike and helps it settle in the corners a little easier.
I wasn't gone risk the change at a race but I plan on testing it out.
Anybody out there try this?
Sound logical I guess.
Thanks

Yup, a few fast guys here in New England are running their forks up in the clamps a little past the 2nd line and both of them are running 9.4 bar in the air side and then stiffening the compression with great results.

After now having the bike for a couple months, I have found a setup now that I like but have came to realization that I need a new rear spring. I am ~200 lbs and just not getting the sag and rear charcatistics that I like. I am barely able to get the sag to ~104mm. With 9-10 hrs on it, I expect it will be broke in. I raced Hangtown a couple weeks ago and did really well on the bike, but the rear was a little too active. The track was rain prepped similar to the Pro National last weekend... Not super rough but a lot of sharp edges. I'm thinking of getting a 4.6 TI spring. Then it may be revalue time.
As for the front, I had a decent setup at 154 lbs of air but had to go out 24 clicks on compression to get the feel. I thought that was too much and was compensating for air pressure. So I dropped the air to 150 and now am at 148 and liking it a little more. The front settles more into the corners and seems to be in better contact with the ground. I went back to 17 clicks and like it (don't forget the clickers if playing with air... I left at 24 and had arm pump in 10 minutes!). I may play a little more with air, but now not as important.
As for the motor, I have pulled the restrictor out of the exhaust and put the sx150 air cage on the bike and like it a lot. I'm a big fan of the controlled roll on power. These changes aren't huge, but it woke up the roll on nicely. I bought the TPS tool but haven't changed anything yet. That's next. Also now that the chain is starting to wear, I am getting closer to buying new and going to a 49 tooth rear. Still seem to be stuck between 2nd and 3rd gears in some situations.

Overall I am extremely happy with the overall package. I feel more confident on the bike and have been told that I'm riding it better than my KX450F. So all the adjustments above are to make the bike feel just right... And I love having a motor that doesn't sign off like the others at higher RPM.

How far up are your forks above the clamps?

I have them 12mm up. I started at 2mm and then tested 5/8/10mm before settling on 12mm. I was nervous just to jump to the mag suggestion, but It works the best here, it just is tough to make clicker adjustments. So if anyone has found the large aluminum adjusters for this fork, let me know. Mine also are extremely tough to turn.

I have my forks at 11 mm"s to the black fork cap. Not really experiencing any head shake. Running anywhere from 142-145 psi, Anything below 142 & I"m bottoming. I"m 190-195lbs, I don't think I could run 130 psi. Thought I had the forks working pretty good at my sand track but rode intermediate square edged track Sunday & was getting serious arm pump.....I rarely get arm pump, reminds me of my 13 crf forks when I did not have then setup right. I checked shock sag, was at 100 mm"s, so I backed off spring to get to 105 mm. Riding same track again Thursday, will keep plugging away at the settings. That's part of the problem with air forks, a lot of adjustability, sometimes get lost. Unrelated, I was missing shifts occasionally, the shifter was kind of high, I lowered 1 spline, no more missed shifts...

Cool, thanks sounds like were similar on settings and weight and by your member name it sounds like we ride the same terrain, just wondering where you are on your compression and reb settings. I'm wayyy out from stock on comp that's why it kinda made sense to lower psi and crank the comp in.
Thanks

I only have 5.5hrs on my bike, I just loosened spring to get 105 mm sag, otherwise I am at Mxa"s shock settings, a few clicks in on rebound when in the deep sand. no real complaints with shock action, It"s all about the Forks for me, when the forks work good, then I can fine tune the shock.

I go back to standard comp & rebound every time I adjust air pressure, usually end up going stiffer on comp. when I feel air is close. Usually between 15-13 on both adjusters by day's end. But it's a work in progress, I did learn with my 13 crf that at some point you have to settle on a constant air setting or you will be chasing settings forever. When My oring on the fork tube is at 1.5 inches from bottoming I leave air alone & focus on clickers.

Finally got around to throwing on the orange plastic that I bought my 15 FE450 last fall. I think the bike looks way better all orange. Just my 2 cents though :-)

The kid I sold my 15 FE450 to decided that he was sticking to offroad and bought a 16 350XCF. He stripped all of the parts off of it and sold it for a $100 less than he paid me for it (great deal there) He kept listing the pipe locally & I kept low balling him on it and he finally sold it to me very cheap. I kept hearing everyone saying that they liked the FMF or the PC pipe over the stock Akro system. I know I had the full Akro system but the bike felt rather sleepy to me with it but revved to moon BUT I just don't ride it there and anyone who does is WAY better than me :-) I put the pipe on for last weekends race just for testing purposes and it felt like exactly like my last FE with nice snap right off of an idle and much more meat in the middle right where I wanted it and it still revs out fine but not nearly as far as the Akro. It's a much better pipe for me and the way I ride my bike.

who did your graphics? Are the plastics aftermarket? Any chance you have the part numbers if they are KTM? I agree the orange looks way better and the white to me (with embedded graphics) shows wear just from my knees rubbing.

All of the plastic is OEM KTM stuff except the shrouds. I wanted all orange shrouds and when I bought the stuff last fall Acerbis was the only company that had all orange shroud at the time. The orange is spot on though. The graphics are from a local kid. Her asked me not to post his name because he doesn't want the call from Red Bull that everyone gets when they copy the Red Bull logo. I had him add more blue and mess with striping but staying close to the FE's original look. He made 8 different orange sample pieces and we chose the one that definitely appears to be as close to the new brighter orange as I've seen. He did a great job and they look awesome in person.

After getting another 1.5 hrs in on an intermediate track yesterday, I am very close to your settings as well, set my fork psi at 146, comp. 24, rebound 15. Shock is same. I just noticed yesterday the rear tire is a 120, I did not like that width of tire on my honda, when this tire is done I"ll be using 110 width. I know one thing for sure, No motor mods nessesary, this thing rips! Muffler insert removed, 150 sx air cage & good gas. Of course riding it back to back with my 82 rm 250 made it feel like a NASA rocket!

I'm very happy with my settings, but will try some others too, I have 7 hours on my bike. The motor and handling is the best I've ever ridden, and that's over the last 35 years of riding. Might need to go up 1 tooth on the rear sprocket. I haven't removed the muffler insert, but that might provide a little extra power but I don't want a real loud bike if I remove the insert.
