A couple of years ago Deegan was going to try to run the Nats he had been riding and was said to be in great shape. There was some build up then nothing. Doeas anybody know what happened?

He has been seen riding motocross lately and it just got me wondering.

The deal fell through if I remember correctly. Good thing in my eyes. the dude's a tool and they didn't need him on the circuit. One JLaw is enough.

He blew out his knee. At Glen Helen I think.

Does any one think he has the speed to run with today's riders. I know he was a top ten guy at one point but the speed of today's top riders seems faster than ever before.

McGrath claims he is faster than he ever was and he embarrasses himself everytime he signs up anymore.

When Deegan was prepping to run the nationals a few years ago, he came out and raced the local Vet X series. He wasn't as fast as the pro class in that series, and the guys racing pro weren't fast enough to qualify for a national.

Oops it was at Hang Town, during the first practice.

I remember he was at Hangtown in 05 on a black Honda 450. I think he crashed in the qualifiers though. Given his chosen discipline, i doubt the top ten MX guys could do the crap that he does if they were to try and cross over. Although Kevin Johnson did win the speed & style!!

Maybe you should ride Mammoth next year and see if you can embarrass the Mc.

I've hung out with and raced with Brian since he was on 80's here in Nebraska. He is
good people, and I can tell you from experience he knows how to seriously haul ass. My guess is that his speed is not where it needs to be because he is older now with a family. And I'm doubting that he needs the money, or has anything to prove to anyone anymore...He's lucky in that he has set himself up to do whatever he wants too. I'm also guessing that all the damage that his sport has done to his body may be starting to catch up with him. I know it has with me, and I can't hold a candle to what he's been through.

I was hoping he would make it through the whole nats that year. I was pumped to see him going for it.

I never said i could beat McGrath. I have raced against him years ago and he lapped me multiple times so yeah i know the guy is fast.

McGrath is my favorite rider of all time but his recent outings in Europe and in Australia were nothing to write home about.

I think it would be GREAT to see Deegan or even Metzger back at the Nats especially if this Bradshaw thing happens.

You know what would be cool is if they had a vet national series like thay do in Europe with a vet world champ series.
They could run on Saturday or Sunday morning and all those old guys who still love racing and want to do more than local stuff could relive the glory days together.
I'd love to watch MC, Stanton, Cooper, Bradshaw etc duking it out together once more.

Deegan seems cool enough. He passed me at Day In The Dirt and I stayed close behind him for 3/4th's of a lap.Lap times were close to 4 minutes. And I'm 46,out of shape and have a completely fused right wrist.I'm kinda doubting that he could qualify but would be cheering loudly for him if he actually tried. Pingree passed me much faster and still hauls.

I heard he only had one kidney, and as a consequence he thought his last kidney would not stand the dehydration etc. Was that him?
