Getting out of Supercross alive seems to be the main hurdle.

Kawasaki/PC fucked up big time when they lost him to Yamaha.
A 100% healthy Ferrandis is on the other hand very unusual. I think PC have had their share of injured riders.

I love to see Ferrandis giving Herlings a challenge but I would be surprised to see him finish the rest of the season without injuries. History usually repeats itself.

Any of the top 5-10 GP guys could finish in the same spot here in the US. Febvre, Cairoli, this years Gajser could have a shot at the Championship.

If Ferandis is healthy for the whole outdoor season next year he may have a shot at a 250 championship here.

I think RF and TG would be contenders to win the title immediately. Those boys have serious speed, aggression, and intensity. TG hits the ground hard and gets back going and rides just as hard, if not harder. I like his persistence.

I do feel that the GP guys (TG especially) pick their bikes up a bit slow, but maybe it's just me. It could be that I'm pulling for him and he has hit the mat a lot lately, making me restless.

I agree with you on ferrandis next year. With Martin and Webb moving up he has a chance, but he will have his hands full with Forkner, AC, Nelson and versace savatgy.

To be fair, after his crash in the first Moto yesterday he was virtually up and on his way before he finished crashing. He took a little longer in the second race, but he was facing the wrong way

Agreed. It will be interesting to see which of the riders returning for 2017 takes it to the next level this summer. Im thinking Savatgy and Plessinger.

Febvre looks like he'd be a contender to win any National that he entered, and certainly a title contender. His first season could have a few hiccups as he was getting used to the environment, tracks, etc., but if he were to come over here and win a title his first year it certainly wouldn't shock me.

The single biggest thing that might keep him away from a title would be Dungey's superhuman consistency.

I don't get to watch the GP's much, but it seems RF and now TG are upping the pace, and I think this year over here, we are going to an elevation of the sport from Dungey, Roczen, and Tomac. I just get the feeling that those three are going to push each other to a new level this summer. We'll see though. Fingers crossed.

While I'm as much of MX fan as anybody, SX is the only model that remotely has a chance of succeeding financially for all the players.
The rest of the FIM GP series does not give any financial benefit to the riders either. It costs 1300 euro's just to compete in 1 GP....no bonus or price money applicable...makes you wonder......

It's funny how we can discuss road racing and the guys from different series and nations and it doesn't turn into the pissing match that mx usually does. Wonder why?
What different series are comparable? MotoGP, WSBK and BSB, MotoAmerica etc.. are all on deliberately distinct levels. Also, I can't help thinking if the days of Schwanz, Rainey, Lawson, Spenser and Roberts were still around the chest beating would be carrying on round here with gusto.

How much do you think the top 20 GP riders make and how much much do you think the top 20 AMA riders make?
I'm sure you would be very surprised if you had access to that information.

Well I can tell you I know a couple of guys who ride GP's, one of them rides top15. They only BRING money, they do not earn anything with winning races, except from what they get from their personal sponsers. If you wan't to earn money you need to have a seat on a factory team...

I think you didn't get it, so I repeat my question: how much do you think they make by the end of the year, even the ones that - like you say - bring the money?

No doubt.

The Outdoors here seem to be so much faster in speed and every week compared to slower speeds and 3 weeks off over there.

Seemed like it took Roczen a number of years not to fade off at the end of the year.
