That's a nasty bone to break in your wrist too. Very painful, don't ask how I know. Wrist injuries can sometime be career enders. Let's hope Webb heals up quick. He's young he's got that going for him.

Cooper Webb glossed over questions about a wrist injury during Friday's press conference, but there's no doubt he has some kind of injury. How big it is, or how much it affects him is up for debate, but he has to get through tonight's race in an effort to try and wrap up the 250 West title. The brace here is a prototype of a Mobius wrist brace, and looks pretty interesting.

Did they announce which bone he broke? That is an impressive ride under those conditions to accomplish what he did.

I heard he fractured his scaphoid. That is one of the slowest healing bones in the body, and if not properly treated, part of the bone can die, and you are screwed for life. Fracture of the scaphoid also usually involves a lot of soft tissue damage and HURTS. Riding at all is quite a feat if he broke it in the last few weeks.

Sucks about the wrist. I really thought he had a great chance to win outdoors this year. I know I broke my right wrist racing and took a while to fully heal up. Isn't it better to be left wrist than right??

The bone is also called the Navicular. Broke mine in '85. True that it heals slowly because the blood flow to the bone is fed in reverse direction. I rode with mine broken for three weeks before they discovered it was broken. It's somewhat shaped line a peanut and mine healed slightly shifted offset. I only have 50% rearward movement of it, and it it gets forced any more than that, you'd swear you just rebroke it.

I broke mine in the right wrist in 2001 and even with a screw it took nearly a year for it to heal. I had a non union for almost 6 months and they were going to fuse it... I told them to eff off I wanted to wait and thank god I did. In my 8th month post surgery the first bone growth started and finally healed. It was ugly and I sat on my ass that whole year I still have not been able to fully loose and I also lack about 30 degrees in flexion still to this day... but I can ride nearly pain free!

Hope he has a better outcome than we did!

I mean no disrespect to cooper. I love the kid. I just think he might of played a little too cautious but I guess it's better than throwing away the championship so I understand. I think if he wanted to he could of wrote as well as savatgy even with his wrist although I may be wrong.

What a ride to clinch the title with a broken navicular. That is such a scary injury. I hope he takes the time to get it fully healed so it doesn't cut his career short.
