Will be much more exciting next year. I've seen to many seasons with them ending with huge leads. Time for a change...

Yeah, god forbid someone can be competitive and top 3 all year (for 31 straight races, actually). You're the epitime of a generation of entitled people. It should be easy, not a grind, and trophies for everyone. Yeah, that does sound a lot better.

Yeah but, CrashMaster has seen too many blow out championships.... He's bored you know. He's ready for a change. He would have rather Dungey not be able to manage his point lead. He would rather him not have had a lead. That way, he could have been on the edge of his seat, biting his fingernails off, wondering who was gonna win. It's more about 'not knowing'...

I was thinking that... How about this for a chase.... The rider with the most 1st place, 2nd place, & 3rd place
finishes, wins the title...

Anything other then that is not racing...

Points chase will not matter with Dungey around.
4/30/2016 8:06pm
I think no matter what position you finish everyone should get a 1st place trophy and the same points so at the end of the year everyones a winner and a champion. That would be fair. Or maybe since Dungey had too many points there should be a cap on points so that he cant accumulate anymore points and any points he makes will be given to other riders with less points.

Was thinkin the same...only one guy setting records that don't like a chase format
I get it to keep fans enthused but it's screwing over Dungey. There will be alot of
"Just think if Dungey could have raced his whole career under the old format"

I still fail to see how its unfair to anyone. If Dungey is so deserving of winning, then he shouldn't have a problem winning no matter what the format is. Doesnt the cream always rise?

I also think a format change wont do anything to make the racing better. The problem is the starts. The races are generally won or lost on the start, or at very least play too large of a role in the outcome.

Unless we just want to call this dirtbike drag racing and put the finish line at the holeshot marker and move on, the starts are what need a revamp.

If thats upsetting tradition too much, well i sort of agree, but thats where the real issues lie, as far as I'm concerned.

Ok ok. As a 22 y/o Bernie supporter, I gotta say I don't like the chase format nor do I think everyone should get a trophy. So let's quit this generalization crap.

Anyways the chase format won't hurt Dungey, and I bet we lose the chase in a few years for some new silly idea.

Nice post, your trophy's in the mail. Maybe Bern can arrange for RD's earnings to go to the guys who aren't as talented, fit, or rich as he is instead of the trophy deal.

Sorry bud, had to. The opportunity was too ripe Evil

I really did get a last place trophy (5th). Threw a fit about that one to lol but some adults told me take it anyways and be proud for trying. Left that day with a trophy I didn't want, a ton of bruises, a broken transmission, and memories :D

Yea lets make the back half of the series more interesting while killing the first half and punishing hard work, consistency and preparedness. Ill be done with poser-cross when they implement this system.

This. I dont understand how the idea is to bring excitement for the final rounds, when in order to do so, you take away the excitement of the opening rounds.

Fix the racing, not the championship.

the chase is a stupid idea, and the people for it are rite most of us will still watch, im a racer and a fan and god dammit im going to watch, the end of the stupid fucking chase and thats it i aint watching the races that aint races, they are mearly qualifing postions for the dum ass chase
so if you qualify for the sillyness then you can "race the chase" why would the other guys bother to show up? they should just start thier outdoor prep
sure the arguement is they can race for wins
bullshit the supporters claim the same guys will win with or without the chase so fuk it go home if you aint in it your wasting your time

I don't see how chase will help. If you look at top 5 in points they are the only five to make every race. So basically if you can just stay healthy and finish top 10 first 10 races you have a legit chance to win championship when chase starts?

It just can't work imo in this dangerous sport.

Even if RD did win the chaSE it still would suck. Amazes me that people thing that artificially resetting the points would make it more exciting. We'll just pretend it's close, sure Dungey has crushed it all year but maybe he'll run out of gas or his rear suspension will collapse on the starting line or there will be a tragic lightning strike and Anderson will have a good night and win the 2017 Monstercross Championship after running 3rd all season down 40 total points. Yeah that would really make it more exciting.

I always go into the season hoping there will be at least 3 riders going into Vegas with legitimate shots at the title. But that does not seem to be the way things go in SX. We've loved the near perfect season when Jeremy did it because it was the first time. But then we got RC and RV, less fun. Now an incredibly consistent RD. Adjust the points, require one throw away round, change the gate pick, tweek things but do not totally change what it means to be Champion.

Damn near anything but a chaSE.

As per your second to last sentence, "Adjust the points, require one throw away round, change the gate pick, tweek things but do not totally change what it means to be Champion."

Adjust the points: this is what Chase does.
Require one throw away round: Goodbye record books
Change the gate pick: Then why have qualifying?
Tweek things: Such as? Everything we've tried the last few years hasn't done anything.
Do not totally change what it means to be Champion: Are the Patriots less of a champion because they use Chase format? How about Olympians, are they lesser champions for using a tournament format (IE, Chase)?

For those of you that are willing to admit SX is broken (and drastically needs more end of the season drama for both old and new fans) what other things could we change that we haven't already tried that would not only make the entirety of the season more entertaining as well as allowing us to continue to track records in nearly the exact same fashion.

I'm just so baffled that so many people are so afraid of a change in format when it's been proven in the above post with data that this years season would have unfolded in the exact same fashion with just a tighter gap in points.
