Finally got to ride my bike Saturday, its been 10 years since I last rode a 450 (06 kx450f), I like the bike a lot, tons of power compared to my 250f, the whining noise the clutch makes and the deacceleration popping are kind of annoying, I im going to try adding extra oil for the cluch whine when hot and possibly get a vortex ignition to dial the efi in some more. I had my suspension done by PR2, revalve front and rear as well as the rear linkage and it felt great, i didn't run a long moto but I had no complaints about the air forks. Handles and turns awesome.

Rode a fresh 16 Saturday. What a fun bike. The suspension was done by Pro action and was predictable and felt really good. I really think the ergos are very similar to hondas and i can jump right on one and feel comfortable right away with the last few year models. I almost want to grab one to ride for awhile till i see reviews on the 17 crf.

I agree, the popping on deceleration is annoying. The black coupler seemed to clear it up the most but noticeable difference from the more aggressive white. My bike seems to stall easily in first then hard to start afterwards. Had the dealer inquire through Kawasaki, they said haven't heard of decel popping issues lol, figures somehow

I would grab the MXA article where they claimed that they had a Kawi guy there with them at the track and they tried several different maps to eliminate the popping.

Mine doesn't pop and neither do 2 of my buddies bikes. We are in the northeast so maybe it has to do with the climate (not sure where exactly you are located). I have run my bike with the stock exhaust with the white and green couplers as well as both couplers with a full Ti FMF and have never had it pop (always 93 pump gas).

If I don't let it warm up sufficiently before heading to the gate, it sometimes coughs and dies. When it does, it seems a bit tougher to start but I get the feeling that it's just a bit fuel soaked. Once it gets warm, no issues.

Still no hydraulic clutch or electric start? Waiting to see someone try to size up KTM, but it's looking like I will be getting a KTM thumper this year?

A lot of people prefer the feel of a cable clutch. I would consider a hydraulic clutch more of a preference than an upgrade.

My bike did pop a little when it was new. Seemed to get better after a little while. New Fmf full system completely eliminated the popping. Adjusting the idle adjuster on the throttle body will help with the bike stalling. See your owners manual for more information about it.

Good to know, do you have the backfire screen eliminated? I have a full pro circuit system on order should be here this week. I have also looked at getting a vortex igntion, Sanner said he could map it for me.

Finally got a few more hours on my bike, starting to love it more and more I ride it, at first it was werid since I was so used to my 250F. The more it gets broken in the better it is, steers so damn good, handles awesome. I have no issues with the air forks what so ever, PR2 has me dialed in good. The Pro Circuit T-6 I rode with for the first time and I like the fact its quieter, it pops considerably less or hardly at all now. Got my flo green plastic in last week, seat cover should be here soon and my graphics will be done soon as well. Awesome bike for sure.

Any reports on what you guys are getting for OTD prices on the KX450 in the western united states? My local dealer isnt dealing on anything but MSRP minus factory incentive.... So i am willing to travel for a good fair deal for a lowely active duty military member!

Anyone had any trouble with their 2016? Mine kicked back on the kickstart and cracked the kickstart assembly and crankcase @ 1.5hrs and before anyone says it no I don't or never have pulled on any throttle when starting it or any other injected bike

Ricko, did you adjust fuel map after exhaust install or just give it a go and you were satisfied?

Nope, I am saving up and getting a vortex ignition and have Chad Sanner map it. The PC exhaust actually made it pop less on deceleration.

How could you tell the damage was done without pulling the thing apart? What were the signs?

My 16 has kicked back a couple times, should I be worried, are the dealer aware of this?

Finally got to put in a good day on my bike Saturday on a really rough track. Haven't had the chance to ride a lot so far this year. Factory Connection suspension worked great. I like the air forks and just made sure fork air pressure was correct.
I love the bike after coming off many years riding a 250F.
The bike feels a lot like my 250. FMF slip-on definitely sounds better than stock, plus it saves a little weight.

Only thing I need to do is cut my seat down, since I'm 5'6 it's a bit tall for me.

Get the PR2 pull rod, it lowers it a couple MM, I have the same bike and am same height.

I´m thinking about changing my ´14 for a ´16 KX405F and I also would like to know the answer to this question...

How much would it cost to repair a damage like this without the dealer bearing the cost?
