Sure, he fell on his shoulder after getting cross rutted and losing the front end after landing from a small double.

Going off memory here but he said he broke his clavicle, cracked his adam's apple, and cracked/ broke 2-3 upper ribs.

It was a shoulder fall that should have never resulted in such severe injuries.

Basically if you have been listening these are common injuries for Leatt wearers.

So he won't be riding again because he is scared ? Those don't sound like career ending injuries.

Not to start a whole Leatt vs everyone else but the doctors say the majority of catastrophic spinal injuries come from the neck going forward too far. That EVS doesn't have a front shelf thingy like a Leatt. More of a fancy neck roll. In my super humble opinion.

I'm interested in seeing such statistics.

Magoo's was extension....

Hyperextension injuries to the cervical spine constitute 25-50% of all severe traumatic cervical cord injuries.1,2,3 Frequently these involve fracture of the posterior element and/or fracture of the anterior inferior tip of a dislocated vertebra with associated encroachment into the spinal canal.

The majority of sports-related c-spine injuries with neurologic problems are actually from axial loading (compression), which is what the whole spearing issue in football is about.

We have 4 leatts now and I had to adjust them all to fit each rider correctly, especially the back support. That can go in and out. I can't see how the EVS can be a fit all with everyone being different size especially in the shoulders. I'm sure its much better than not wearing anything though.

I've broke my collar bone 3 times in the past and once it didn't heal correctly so it sort of sticks out. I was worried about all the collar bone hype but my leatt comes nowhere near my collar bone. Collar bone is a very common injury and people want to blame it on something. Everytime I've gotten hurt I blame me for crashing.

Collar bone is way common but luckily it doesnt take long to heal! Id rather take my chances with a few more broken collarbones (3-5 week heal time give or take) and wear my Leatt than take a chance at breaking my neck.
To each their own though.

Hey VitalMX users!

Here at EVS, we’re no strangers to questions on the RC EVOLUTION race collar. So we put our heads together and came up with the all new RC EVOLUTION mini site. The website within a website is featured directly on the EVS home page and is an all-encompassing destination for those of you with questions.

The mini site begins with the introduction of the RC EVOLUTION. On the home page, you can check out rotating views and colors of the RC EVO and learn how it outstands its competition by taking a look at the technology used by our phenomenal design team.

Next, you can read about the development process, which includes construction and testing. From the design table to the track, learn all about how this amazing product came to life.

Are you wondering what other riders are saying about the RC EVOLUTION? Then scroll through the testimonials and see for yourself just how much our riders love it!

Do you have set up questions or do you want to see how to properly wear your RC EVOLUTION? Then you’ll want to watch EVS’ fully encompassing instructional video. Here, all of your questions will be answered.

Lastly, check out the RC EVOLUTION in action on a number of our riders featured in the photo gallery. These photos illustrate its comfort, adjustability and great fit while riding.

Here's the link...check it out today!

I saw my brother break his neck and his head rolled forward into his chest. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that for this type of crash, the Leatt would have helped. That front shelf (in my opinion) would have decreased his injury.

Sounds like a pretty scientific study you have here...

Guess what, I fell on my side and broke my collarbone and a bunch of ribs and I wasn't even wearing my Leatt at the time. Hmmm amazing how a person can break ribs and a collarbone without the help of a leatt. Also amazing how people can jump to conclusions.

I thought there was som pretty good reading material on the EVS website regarding the development of the RC Evo race collar. The number one area of focus was on 'Axial Compression' (Pushing the head straight down onto the spinal column). To me, it looks like the EVO does this better than all of the race collars.
They also mentioned that their research indicated that allowing a fair amount of forward flexion was more beneficial in helping a tuck-and-roll motion when crashing, and they purposely did not add additional support on the front because of this. They believe they have just enough on the front.
