Hey all,

Thought you might enjoy these moto photos. Most are from NorCal District 36 but
there are some from a few Pro and Amateur Nationals. Sorry, there are too many photos
of yours truly but plenty of various other racers I'm sure you'll recognize, including
Bobby M ( Hi Bob).

Please feel free to use the photos as you wish, keep 'em, re-post elsewhere, whatever.

Go ahead and add comments to the photo sites (Smugmug). I would welcome some help
ID'ing some of the racers.

2 galleries to check out - "Motocross" and "District 36 Motocross - 1974 - 1982"

Glad you liked the photos. Lots of Can-Am photos for sure.

The swing arm was from Answer Products. I recall it was sort of a semi-prototype but it worked well. Answer was not such a huge company back then.

I'm a new user to VitalMX, it's great to see so much of the old district 36 and, I assume, CMC. Just be patient with scanning your slides and negatives. I got an Epson 4870 pretty cheap on ebay, and it does a decent job with a little practice. take a look--

Thanks Sondra,

Those pics from Madera and Santa Maria might have been from CMC Golden State races but my memory fails me often these days.

You're family has a great history in MX, keep it going!

Hi Lee,

You're great photos were an inspiration for me to keep going with mine.

My photos are a history of me flailing around District 36 and elsewhere.
(showcasing some of my moto colleagues and tracks too)

...but you're photos truly document some real MX history.

Thanks,

George

Gday does anyone remember some Quick Red Headed Aussie back in 1985 named Leisk? Who won the fianl race at Indian Dunes when we came up with Eddie Lawson who cracked it with the officials in practice and packed up and went home?

Leisky also either won or was in the Top 3 on his practcie CR250 at the 85 golden state round at Lake Madera, couple of other notable Aussie MX stars were there Glen Bell and Vaughn Style.

Great Times

Thanks for sharing George. Great photos of the best era in MX! Looks like you did what we all dreamed of when we were kids (and even now!). Did you ever come east to Unadilla for the GP's or Trans Ams? I had my kids looking through my old programs and they couldn't find your name.

I never got a chance to race at Unadilla and that is one of my biggest regrets.

I raced a bunch at Washougal, so that made up for it a little.

Sears Point and Hollister Hills had some great natural terrain tracks when they first opened to motocross racing.

Back in those days it was the best. I recognized many riders from your photos who rode the support and big classes back then. I never got to ride there until '98 and '99 when they had some amateur races there. My result weren't great, but it was absolutely thrilling to be out there.

The first MX mag I ever bought was MXA's Trans AMA special in '76. I must have read and reread the stories and poured over the pics from those races. Sears Point always looked Unadilla like. Spectacular is the word used by those I know who were there.

Lee your stuff is awsome. It was great to see the early Carnegie Trans AMAs from the bottom track and relive the first pro MX races I ever saw.

Hey George, I lived in the San Jose area from 77 to 81. Rode behind you a lot. I even found a couple of start pictures in your album with me in them. I have a few I can send you from Fremont and Hangtown. My number was 405. Mike Lambert

The word "Spectacular" is a good way to describe the natural terrain grass tracks at Sears Point during the late 1970's and early 80's.

The place will always be Sears Point to me but here is a T-Shirt I dug up from "Golden State International Raceway".

Sure, send me any photos you have from "back in the day" and I'll post them on my site.
